U2 Imax Production

Hello there,

Well, It is true U2 is shooting most of his concerts on IMAX format. I saw 2 or 3 IMAX cameras on the last show they put in Mexico City. The recorded the two concerts. Also, a friend of mine works in the UK with IMAX gear rentals and he told me that U2 took the best technicians and gear on the road.

It is simply true and soon they will have something on the theater.

Technical note: I think one of the reason why you didn't see the cameras in the US concerts is because you are not allowed to fly that king of equipment over the public anymore.

I think they did a practice run in Mexico for the real IMAX shoot in Buenos Aires.

And yes - I enjoyed the helicopter shots on the Buenos Aires DVD.

One other thing to note is that one of U2's companies, Elevation Partners, recently bought a share (possibly a majority share) of the IMAX company. So I'm sure that was part of that whole arrangement in the first place.
