Details of rock group U2's much-anticipated Australian tour have been leaked on the internet.

The Irish supergroup look set to arrive in Australia in early December and play in Brisbane and Melbourne before four concerts at the Sydney SuperDome at Homebush Bay on December 13, 14, 17 and 18.

They will be the final shows in U2's global tour which begins in Miami on March 1.

News of the Australian dates is likely to cause intense excitement among rock'n'roll fans who were upset three years ago when the band decided against bringing their Elevation tour to Australia.

This year's tour will centre on songs from the album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, which went to No.1 when released in Australia.

Rumours are already circulating that the band members will take an extended holiday in Australia when their tour finishes.

U2 last played in Sydney during their PopMart tour back in 1998.

From what we've heard, no such bookings have yet been made.

"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

If this is true, im gonna renounce myself as a U2 fan. I can't to believe that they'll play four shows in Sydney and none in perth or adelaide. The album has been hugely sucessful in our state and they are more popular than they have ever been, this is the only chance ill ever get to see them before they die, and I get screwed! (and yes travelling interstate is out of the question)

They'll play at least one of Perth and Adelaide.

AussieU2fanman, out of interest, what are the indoor and outdoor venues they could play in Adelaide?

There has been no official confirmation of dates for Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. However there is a number of submitted applications for the first and second week of December - one is for a block of dates - Dec 09 - 12... This fits in rather well with the Sydney dates...

There is a lot of talk of an arena Robbie Williams tour in Dec as well - so they may be his dates...?

They played Festival Hall (indoor) during the Lovetown tour and Football Park during the ZooTV tour.

What's the reduced capacity of Festival Hall, 8-10,000?
