Everything U2 makes is split in 5... All 5 get exactly the same amount...

Actually, they changed this deal in about 1993. Now Bono and Edge, as songwriters, get 50% between them, and the other 50% is split between Adam, Larry and Paul. It was in U2 At The End of the World I believe.

Are you sure about that? The way I remember it from the book was that it was an idea but it didn't actually get changed.

Yeah I don't remember anything in the book saying it actually got changed, just that the idea was being discussed.

Really? It's been a while since I read it but I thought I remembered it saying they were going to make a new deal after Zooropa...

But then I could be wrong

Then re-read the book.

And indeed, according to the book it was talked about, but not put in action. They resolved all the tensions regarding the division and kept it as it was (thus dividing all profits by 5).
One point I remember being mentioned in the book is that, instead of Adam & Larry getting less, they should be contributing more. And so they did, apparently.
