That's it. I'm going down to San Diego. Russian Circles, Red Sparowes, and Young Widows all playing at the Casbah, which is about as big as half of my house. It's a school night during the week of Veteran's Day, and I don't care. I'm going.

phanan, dear, I can't see the pic. When does the album come out?

Looks like October 20.

The pic was the cover. Not sure why it doesn't show up, but oh well.

You have no idea how jealous I am.

God, I wish Russian Circles would come to Australia.

Well, I'm happy. I don't have to go to San Diego after all. I can drive 10 miles over to Anaheim and see RC and Young Widows. No Red Sparowes, but it's worth the sacrifice not to drive to San Diego.

From Explosions in the Sky's Facebook update:

Other than the upcoming ATP Festival, we don't have any shows planned and we probably won't for quite some time. We're getting back to work on writing a new record. We wish we could announce some sort of tentative release date, but that's pretty much impossible at this point. We can say with some confidence that it's probably going to be awhile.

Sorta good and bad news I guess. At least they're finally doing something.

Wasn't that why they took a bunch of time off after the spring 2007 shows too?

Whatever, as long as they keep making better albums than Boner and crew, I'll be happy.

So, I saw Sleepmakeswaves play their first headlining gig last night. Tiny club in Melbourne, can't have been 150 people there. Hell, there were more people at a pub last week when I saw the Aussie U2 Show. Deserved a much better turnout.

It was fucking fantastic stuff. I Will Write Peace On Your Wings was excellent. They did a couple of new songs that were quality and I can't wait for them to be recorded in studio. The closer was One Day You Will Teach Me To Let Go Of Your Fears, complete with Tim Charles from Ne Obliviscaris on violin. Awesome. Just wish they'd played longer!

One of the openers, A State Of Flux, were pretty sweet too (though not post-rock); I picked up their EP.

I'm listening to them now 'cause that's a really cool band name ... They have quite an interesting sound. I think I like it.

Anybody bothered listening to the new Califone record? Typically, predictably great.

I'm only on the second track, and I already have a music boner.

It's a great album, glad I picked it up based on youz guyz'z recommendation. Been a slow year for post-rock for me, outside of this and Mono's new album, i don't think I've picked anything else up.
