lol, I had to google that -- did not know axolotl = salamander I don't think I've ever known anyone with even an amphibian as a pet! How old is the little fella, and what's his name??

An axolotl is definitely not the same as a salamander. Axolotls have gills on the outside! They're a very curious species.

The decorations likely tonight. It's resting outside for now. We got the last decent tree with pot, lol. Most are chopped down these days, but we always want a complete tree with pot.

No, axolotls are a species of salamander. They usually spend their entire lives in an aquatic state in a sort of salamander tadpole form, except in rare (and undesirable) cases when they lose their gills and morph into land dwellers like adults of other salamander species. And I know there are some ugly pictures of them on Wikipedia and such, but a lot of them really are cute. They're more common pets than you might think. Mine's just a youngster, several months old, probably less than six. I don't think I want to name it.

Christmas trees! Yes, pics, please!

I thought they were a subspecies of the common salamander.

So the pics will not be happening tonight. It's raining. We can't bring in a wet tree. So I have to wait till tomorrow to set it up.

Well yeah, kinda like how scorpions are classified as arachnids and, umm, uhh... Baptists are still Christians (unless we're talking about Westboro, which are a different breed altogether)

I might put up a few pics tomorrow as well. Christmas trees give me the warm fuzzies *tingle*tingle* As for now, I must depart for a Christmas shindig at one sister's house and, afterwards, a birthday party for the other sister at her house. Until then...

I have aquarium pics if you're interested? Hey it's something...

Not sure you could even classify Westboro as humans...

I love that I too got a Christmas tree- pic will be up as soon as it's done being decorated, if anyone cares. There should be an official thread for that actually.

I just love Christmastime and all the lights...

Whoa I love aquariums; the ambiance is fantastic -- dark blues, slightly algid temperature, surrounded by giant glass cages of marine life swimming in a deep blue

chocolate-covered toffee.

i've got to make two batches: one salt-free and nut-free (someone at the party can't have either and i don't like nuts either so this makes me happy), and another batch all normal. i was going to make two batches anyway since it's for a party so i don't mind making them differently.

i love hearing about everyone's christmas trees, i love christmas i wish i had more than one christmas party to go too. i love baking cookies, making candy, buying presents, decorating, everything. it's all so much fun. oooh wait, driving around at night looking at lights, my mom and i have done that my whole life!

i still need to figure out when i'm going to get to starry nights (this thing they do in the middle of this huge park every christmas, you drive through and look at christmas lights) as well as zoo lights. so many christmas lights in such a small space

Yes, please, Galeongirl! The more pics the better! I've seen a post or two of you mentioning your fish, and I would love to see them. Your aquarium must be gorgeous!

They're not Marine tanks tho Amazone mostly, though the Killifish are African.

Well if you guys insist, this is the latest shot, from last night. It's a new tank since the old one sprung a leak, so it's not entirely the way I want it yet, but the plants will grow. There's two filters to the right because I had to buy a new one, and to preserve bacterial cultures I have to use both for two weeks till the new one is 'ready'.

My pretty killifish

The now shy catfish, corydoras. Since the move from the smaller tank they're in hiding. Such a shame, they used to come to the front often.

Got shitloads of shrimp, and they're NOT shy!

I have more fish, but the guppy's(orange in big pic) and blue tetra's(blue in the back right of the middle) are too fast to photograph.
And anoter species of catfish but they're very shy too.

ooh, i love the lighting! that might sound kinda dumb but usually aquariums are so brightly lit, this one has a kind of ambiance to it or something.

Yeah, and that bright light is horrible for fish. They won't show their true colours in that, and won't show natural behaviour. I used to have way more floating plants, but they died in the last tank due to condensation water. So I got a few from a mate, hopefully they'll grow fast again so it'll be even less bright. The fish approve, lol.

Added some more pics of the inhabitants.

It's amazing how relaxing an aquarium can be. Just sitting there, watching the fish for a while is so soothing!

It was supposed to just be for the kids, but one of my sisters (who will not come forward!!) had snuck in a present for me from "Santa" in his sack. lol, so he called me up and I got on his lap! He asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I told him a Law School admittance letter
