eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour 2018 - Rumors & General Discussion

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I'm sure Mohegan is paying through the nose to get them... but I have a hard time seeing a bigger pay day at a 10k venue vs their take on another show at MSG or TD Garden, unless the Mohegan Tribe is just planning on taking a hit on the concert in order to draw more people into the blackjack pit (which is possible, but still)

Well just checked their website... a room on July 2 is $179.00, a room on July 4 is $199.00

A room on July 3 is....wait for it...$599.00 (and up)

U2 place, the italian site, says it seems the band had been rehearsing War and Pop songs (in light of the remasters/anniversaries), however they aren't specific how many and which songs.
You'd think a site dedicated to a particular band would be familiar with their songs.. I'll wait for U2 Valencia to weigh in

TIL U2 is now playing casinos.

If you look at the schedule, U2 is playing Mohegan Sun on the 3rd, and Steely Dan/Doobie Brothers are right behind them on 8th. Well, half of Steely Dan that is...

I wonder if they'll do a 2nd show in CT? I'm sure a show at that casino on July 4th would be a big draw. Plus the venue is small, easier to sell out. Also, it seems to be at a population nexus between NYC, Hartford, Providence and even Boston.

They likely would have raised the room rates for the 4th if their was going to be a 2nd show. 3rd is $599/nt, 4th is only $199

Well that's not fair

A) Springsteen, Dylan, Prince, etc have all played that arena. If you look at any arena's calendar you'll find dodgy concerts, especially smaller ones. Plenty of major acts have played there.

B) they're already playing T Mobile in Vegas (built and owned by MGM), and have played the MGM Grand in the past. What's the difference?

Still only 1 canadian city out of 17 for 27 dates now.

I have a feeling they'll push it to 30 dates.Toronto has a good shot to be add.

I was half-joking of course, but...seriously did we anticipate U2 booking a venue like Mohegan Sun on this tour? I am sorry I did not forsee that.

I didn't think they'd any more shows so I thought Toronto was out, but now all bets are off

The u2.com news about the two additional dates doesn't say "final dates" to be added which u2.com normally state. So there's definitely a chance for shows to be added elsewhere

I think somebody said something about the potential dates for Toronto were in question because of venue availability due to the hockey playoffs. The dates they wanted were in between Atlanta and Montreal, around June 1st. So they'll have to see how the playoff schedule ends up working out. Perhaps this is also the holdup on announcing the 2nd Atlanta show, they're not sure if they're going to be able to get from Atlanta to Toronto depending on what the dates are. Who knows?

The Mohegan Sun arena is only 10,000 capacity. But literally every other major artist has played there. It's not a sign of declining popularity. It must equate to a big payout, because for a small venue it gets a lot of big shows.

And Omaha... my guess is they intended on have another show in LA. But when they realized demand wasn't there, they figured they'd need to play somewhere in order to make that money. Omaha hasn't been played since 2005, and is on the way to Chicago from LA. Makes sense.

The majority of the images behind them are my creations (or just stuff that I've collected over the years for use in shows)... but I had to hang up my faux Willie Williams spurs last July when my family moved to DC.

Still do their website, though. Will get to see them for the first time in forever on St. Patrick's Day. Can't friggin wait.

You did an awesome job with those images, hats off to you. Also they were absolutely on fire the other night.... Have fun at St. Pats gig.

Why not just go to Twin Cities then? Bigger population base there...and two arenas to chose from for dates.

I reserved a room at the Fox Tower in Foxwoods for $69+ tax (I have a players card there so it was a little cheaper). Its about a 10 minute drive over to Mohegan.

If the Air Canada center found a spot for Bon Jovi right in the middle of the NBA/NHL playoff for the Raptors and Leafs (May 12,) they surely can find spot for U2 at the end of May or early June.

Hockey is not a factor in July..I would have said the Mohegan Sun date sets them up nicely for them to end in Toronto, but Shania Twain is booked into the ACC on 7/6 and 7/7 - but they could still hit TO on 7/8 or 7/9, maybe do a single in Ottawa before then. OR they could play Hamilton, Ontario on the 6th and 7th... Have a feeling one of these scenarios will apply.

Yea there are plenty of arenas on the docket that have potential conflicts. The U2 shows at Capital One Arena are scheduled on the day of Game 7 of the NBA Finals (admittedly an incredible long shot), and a potential Stanley Cup Final would also conflict(more of a possibility).

Not to mention San Jose, Las Vegas, Nashville and Philly all have potential NHL or NBA playoff conflicts, and it hasn't stopped them from booking the arena.

So the idea that Toronto is waiting for a playoff schedule doesn't hold water. It's possible that they're just skipping Toronto this time around. Hard to believe I know, but I don't see another reasonable explanation at this point.

Yeah that is the way to go.
If I wait until June, I can probably get a free room at Foxwoods, normally get the free room Sunday to Thursday offer, though they might restrict the holiday "weekend" dates. But not sure I'll be able to make 7/3 work anyway with normal July 4th stuff.
But I plan to get the free room from Foxwoods on 7/29 when I see The Pumpkins at Mohegan.

Currently booked at Air Canada Centre during the NBA and NHL playoffs...

May 2 - Kygo (ha!)
May 4 - Stars on Ice
May 12 - Bon Jovi
June 5 - Hall & Oates w/ Train (eww)
June 11 - Depeche Mode
June 12 - Paul Simon
June 16 - Harry Styles

Three's nothing stopping them from booking, say, the 31st and 1st. Even if ACC didn't want to give up 3 days because of potential playoff conflicts, they could easily book one show now and put it on sale in that time frame.

These teams won't know their initial playoff schedules until mid April... and potential dates of each playoff round are communicated by the league in advance. So yea... makes no sense for that to be the hold up.

Yeah. This one wasn't a shock to me.

But Uncasville? I had to fucking look up where it is. I think that's the first time they've played somewhere and it's been so obscure I'd never heard of it before.

I'm also very surprised they've added extra shows without including a second Atlanta date or anywhere in Canada.

I am pretty convinced more Canada is coming though - why they are waiting on that I don't know.
