I like it a lot. A lot more than Lucifer's Hands. I think it is album worthy, although maybe not this one. On a side note, I think they should name the tour "The Crystal Ballroom", and definitely play this on tour, it will be a lot of fun!

I had not thought about it but now that you suggest it, I think I like the idea.
"The Crystal Ballroom Tour" sounds more suggestive and creative than - for instance - "Volcano Tour" (too much "Vertigo Tour"-a like).

The Crystal Ballroom 12"

Am I missing something here? No thread yet on this amazing version? C'mon, I thought there would be some ranting and raving about this mix. I personally love it!!! It's so nice to hear U2 jam out for a few minutes without any vocals from Bono (no offence Bono). I really think this should have either been on the regular album or at the very least on the deluxe disc. By the way, if you haven't heard it yet it is available on Youtube. Just search "U2 The Crystal Ballroom" and it should come up.

It's not really a different mix... just an extended outro/groove section essentially.

haha bloody hell this was a lot to wade through!!

Sorry, I know I'm late to the party but calling Songs Of Innocence a "double album" so stubbornly because of the bonus disc (an industry practice as old as the hills) just comes across like those really annoying people who say "actually, there are thirteen planets... " because it makes them look like they're on a higher plane than the rest of us plebs.

The White Album, The Wall, and Rattle And Hum (bring it!) are double albums. This is just taking it to extremes.

anyway, The Crystal Ballroom has taken a couple of listens but I'm really enjoying it. After exhausting Songs Of Innocence somewhat in the last month this was a nice surprise to hear, partly because it's quite removed from the sound of the actual album. It's a pretty great track but I don't agree that it was wrong to leave it off the album because, like Invisible, it just wouldn't have fit, in my opinion.

However, I much prefer it to Lucifer's Hands which really wouldn't have deserved to go any further than a B-side had U2 started this campaign with a traditional single release. Pretty disappointed with that track given it's origins.

Loving this song more and more. The 12" mix on youtube is superb, particularly the guitar solo - which sounds a little bit flat and lifeless on the "regular" version. On the 12" it sounds really deep and trippy... much better!

Oh shut up already

I notice in this and the promo thread that every time this poster says anything, more 'trolls' show up and call them out. I know sometimes the minority is right in the face of dissent, but this is just fucking crazy

Brilliance! As much as I like the idea of the Volcano tour (just bc that's my fave track on the album, with TCB a close second), this idea is perfect. Quick, someone call Bono! ;)

SEX.

This song is sex.

Particualrly the 12" version. I've got it on constant loop, it's just soooo catchy!

At first I was thinking poor production lets the song down so much, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it as it is.

Kind of giving it a dreamy feel, flowing in & out which I really think is what gives it a lot of it's charm.

I absolutely love edges guitar work throughout. Some have described it as messy, but I'd describe it as an aural orgasm. So much going on, each time I listen I find something new in there somewhere.

It is criminal if this is not released as a single - in its full 12" glory.

But they won't.

Because they ARE idiots.
