Netherlands are top :D ( one of my boys was playing ) then Japan, Denmark & CAmeroon

Only 1 game left in group stage

Netherlands V Cameroon & Denmark V Japan

If they draw or win Japan go through, if Denmark win they will join Holland
 
I was hoping the African teams would've been able to get through and have a strong showing especially there. There still seems to be hope for Ghana and its not over for ivory coast. It would be a colossal upset if they beat brazil.
I can't root for Algeria next game :wink:

I don't know that Ghana can pull it out of the hat against Germany . . . I hope they do cuz it would better the chances for my lot and as for the Ivory Coast, I don't know so much about them other than they have Didier who can make a mean fist of things when he wants too :)

I don't know that ANY African country will make ir.

Cameroon is out
South Africa need to beat france and hope uruguay and mexico DON'T tie
Nigeria need a win against Korea (by 2 goals) and need to Argentina to win against Greece
Algeria needs to beat the US and Slovenia to tie or beat England
Ghana needs to at least tie against Germany OR even with a loss hope Serbia does no better than tie against Australia
Ivory Coast's fate remains unclear as they still have 2 games to play, but will need to beat Korea by more than Portugal will for sure, and hope Portugal doesn't get a result against Brazil. Of course, an unexpected result, even a tie, against Brazil will be a HUGE boost.

Right now only Ghana to me appears to be in with a realistic chance, and Ivory Coast will depend on what happens tomorrow, hard to say right now.

Too bad the 2 best African teams got drawn in the toughest groups.

FIFA has been adding more African teams to the WC each time, but they're really not making a lot of headway, many better European teams out there.

Time to reallocate conference spots.

:up: thanks for that . . . I adore the whole set up but my head starts to explode at the statistical side of it all . . . and you can bet I'll be banking on Ghana to shake things up a little :yes: . . . would love to see the Netherlands, USA and Australia advance . . . failing that I've got my fingers crossed that France can pull something out if its hat (cuz I stand to win a tidy sum of money in my sweep at work :lol:)

I think UEFA needs to redo its qualifying tournament (seeding teams, giving stronger teams byes, etc.) because some of the qualifying groups are atrocious.
 
Its not like any of the African teams are being slaughtered. I was telling a friend it's a shame a team like Nigeria doesn't have any group points. They've held their own and that goalie of theirs has had some brilliant saves

< just sat through a repeat of the Aus v Ghana game ( yes, am a glutton for punishment ) and I still fail to see how Mr Kewells' penalty was a red card offense :angry:

(will now give it up and move on . . . very much looking forward to NZ giving it to Italy this fine autumn evening . . . bring. it. on :up: )
