So can I post about the Adelaide game, or keep quiet? I'm not watching it, but I've been periodically checking it on the AFL's website.

Legend. Listening now.

I don't know the current score, but I do know we've been playing very well. Any score that I get will give me a heart attack, so ... lets keep it quiet!

Am loving Soon.

I'm not sure how I feel about Soon. As a snippet of a song, I've liked it since it was first used at the gigs. I didn't expect that to be the whole song, though. Maybe there IS a longer version awaiting future release? I do like that we can now hear more of what's going on, especially the multiple vocal tracks.

My verdict is that it's pleasant but leaves no significant impression in this short form. Better on headphones than any time I heard it at a gig.

I believe it'll be used as an opener to the album, I mean, a quick 2 minute intro. Beautiful. I hope it's used as that.

Plus, if they did that, it'd be unique in U2 history to have a track that's fairly obviously an "intro" track. The start of Zooropa was originally going to be split off into a separate intro song called Babel, but that obviously didn't eventuate ...

I could alternatively see Soon used as a good segue between two tracks though, like how 4th Of July works between Promenade and Bad.

Very right you are. If Soon is representative of the other songs in the next album then we're in for something awesome.

Sorry, I am over excite.

I'm watching the delayed telecast now, unfortunately you're not so lucky. It's a very exciting game.

I could possibly find a stream of it online, but I honestly have a hard time watching sport of any kind if I already know the result.

Plus I'm making a bit of progress on this article. Remember my post on songs played live prior to their release? It's an expansion of that. I'll add it to the FAQ ... which probably needs updating.

More songs than you might expect have been played before their release, actually. But most of them are just songs being done on TV shows and whatnot a couple of weeks before an album comes out.

Songs that haven't yet even been recorded? That's a much different story, and goes as you'd expect.

Indeed. It's Edge's comments about them possibly doing new material that inspired me to write the article in the first place.

Bono's comments about setlist things are usually totally inaccurate, but Edge was much closer to the truth. I love it when Bono boldly declares "we've never played this song!" when in fact it was done 200 times in the eighties, or "this song hasn't been performed in a decade!" when they did it two months ago.

Congrats to Adelaide on the win!

Any thoughts from potential Muse-goers about a contingency plan if GAs are not forthcoming tomorrow...?

*wouldn't mind a link to Kingdom either* ... :shifty:

You've got mail.

Oh, and thanks, hope Hawks beat Port today, 'cause I tipped 'em.

Ta!

Fingers crossed here too, would be nice to keep the streak going. I'm not in the tipping comp at work, it would all be pure guesswork. *L*

Ah, work tipping comps. A few years ago my mother entered in one and got me to do all the tips. I think she came third or something, because of me. :D

Liking Soon?

EDIT: Didn't read the PM until just now.

Oooh, Esse-daw vs Sydney is proving close at this stage ...

I've got Hawthorn and Port on now, Hawthorn are up 16 to 7 in the second quarter. Port haven't kicked a goal. A very sloppy game with oodles of bad skills, but it's still watchable.

Haha, good one!

Yeah, I'll have a listen when I get back to Melb and decent internetz. I loved it at the gigs though!

Now it's quickly becoming a massacre, 49 to 16 the Hawk's way now.

:yippie: 'Bout bloody time a massacre went our way! :D

*hopes she didn't just jinx the Hawks*

My picks this week must be shot to hell. Picked Port, if i remember correctly.

Esse-daw and Sudniy level on 72 at 3/4 time ... : bites nails :

Now it's 51 to 35, 10 minutes left in the third. The skills are deplorable though, yes it's a wee bit wet but that can't be an excuse.
