 I'd like to know this too. I plan on parking there and arriving early to be sure to get in but i didn't think that they might not be open.

this

Someone's got to find out. Did I mention I hate the Rose Bowl for this reason? What are they gonna do if hundreds show up early? Turn us all away? :scream: And if they allow us to park (a big if, I assume we'll be the last ones out of the Rose Bowl the next morning :sigh:

Hey, Mysterious Ways, do you care if you're staying at the same place as other interferers? I'm going to try to figure this out with Dan tonight (since we're traveling from Vegas together) and if you PM me your number I can call you tonight or tomorrow. Or I can just PM you when we decide.

I'm cool with whatever. Almost booked the Econo Lodge for $68 -- seemed to have better ratings than the Travelodge or Ramada. I'm all about cheap & no frills -- unless there's a huge proximity/convenience factor.

if you had a choice:

a) 3.5 star hotel, 2-3 miles from the stadium...up to $105/night on priceline (i've been denied at $75, $85 & $95)
b) 2 star hotel, 3-6 miles from the stadium...hopefully $50/night on priceline

i think we can all agree that walking is out of the question.

if we get a couple of rooms, we can split it up boys & girls (and me...i kid, i kid)

i do have a couple of people i was going to room with already (1 guy/1 girl) who aren't active on this site.

Ok, I called and spoke to someone from The Rose Bowl;

* Closest hotel is the Courtyard Marriott in Pasadena on Fair Oaks Ave. This is also right in front of the shuttle services for the Rose Bowl.
* Shuttle services will also meet at the Parsons Engineering building, this is normally where they conduct these types of transportation services for the Rose Bowl.
* Public parking will be closed until 4 hours prior to the concert. :|
Prices for parking; $20/car, $40 for buses/limos
* Exactly one week before the event, all OFFICIAL info will be posted.

The person that gave me this info, said that these are preliminary notes from past events, but they are solid.

Thanks for calling and getting info Carlos.

But... the question remains. What will they do if people show up early to line up? Turn cars away? And if so, where would we they go? :sigh: Opening the parking lot only 4 hours prior to the show of 90,000 people in this location seems insane. But that's just me. Maybe that's why I haven't been to the bowl since the 80s

I called back.....lol

The city has strict guidelines of not allowing any overnight parking, anywhere.
We will be allowed to enter the parking area 4 hrs before the event.

I am calling the Tournament of Roses parade hotline, they should have more info....I hope.

*this is killing my lunch time, btw*

Thanks C.

Agreed on the :| for the parking.

Looks like we'll probably try one of the lots/shuttle options mentioned earlier. I hope that doesn't mean they also won't let people line up earlier. And maybe they will have something new to say with the official info 1 week before.

Thanks again for checking!

4 hours is insane. There are permit only lots there, but I don't know how to obtain one, those are the best for parking as they are actual lots, not golf course.

Since I'm GA I really need to be able to park. I'm planning on bringing my beach chair and rolling cooler and maybe borrowing my friends grill for post-concert tailgating. Grrr.

Ok, I called Parsons ParPark and they said the same thing; 4 hours prior to the event.

However, this parking structure www.parpark.com is open 24 hrs and it is usually $7 if you get there EARLY....later in the day, it will go up to $30+

I'm going to call the Manager in about an hour, he is at lunch...which is something I was supposed to be doing. You guys owe me.

Thank you so much Carlos. We owe you one (or two). The Courtyard Marriott is almost $200 for the night before the show - don't know about the night of but I"m sure it's nearly the same. Too rich for my blood.

Dan, I don't mind staying somewhere cheap but I think I'll get my own room - not to be a snob, I just want to be able to relax, ya know? :reject: But fo' sho' in the same place. I'll be calling you and Mysterious Ways tonight while sitting in front of the 'puter.

Carlos - thanks so much for checking on all this. It's very much appreciated. I owe you a

Like others have said... those of that want to get there early... what the heck are we gonna do? With the ParPark link that Carlos listed - will they shuttle people to the Rose Bowl all day long? And how far away are they, and will we ever get back to our car after the show  :scream:

Damn... I'm gonna have to figure something out too. And i just live like four miles (12 min.) away. What to do...:eyebrow::eyebrow:

The thing that sucks for me is that... if I drive, It'll take me longer the 12minutes to get there... not to mention getting out of there... :hmm:

I think we should all use that shuttle at Parsons. Leave the cars there and go. The shuttles will run every 10 minutes...so they said.

:applaud: Thank you so much Carlos for spending the time to find all this out, I would have done it myself but I needed a new pair of shoes :reject:

Anyhoos...... I think this is the best idea as far as parking and shuttling in.

What time are we all meeting??? :hyper:

edit: but that still leaves everyone and their beach chairs, doesn't it....hmmm

there are a lot of the same people posting and none of us know what we're going to do yet. i didn't hear back from either of the people i sent e-mails to about where they'd prefer to stay...i almost want to make the decision for them.

just curious....has anybody booked anything anywhere?

it would be nice if there were an official-unofficial hotel.

I'm staying at the Westin in Pasadena. I'm planning on walking the 2 miles to/from the stadium. I checked out the walking route on Google Earth's street view and it looks doable (there's sidewalks ).
