It just makes me mad because in Dublin we had 3 shows. I can't get that all upset because the soundchecked it in full for Dublin 3, so technically I heard it and DM

True, but didn't Edge say that they were going to play some stuff they haven't played in a long time and that they are going to be dropping some usual songs. so far the only regular song they have dropped is Bullet. i'm not one that complains about the setlist, but I'm a little upset about ES because it is one of my favorite songs. I have a bunch more shows, so heres hoping they play it in one of those

I hope this doesn't offend you Laura, but I'm a little surprised that you'd be complaining when, according to your sig, you still have six shows to go and you have a very good chance at hearing it at one of those shows. You got to see three shows in Dublin! I'd be happy to go there and hear Bono read from a phone book.

Anyway, I really hope you do get to hear it eventually. :)

Hey, quit callin' me out! :shifty:

I do come to PLEBA, but mainly to check out the pictures from the shows - there have been a lot of great pics from the shows so far!

I'm lurking the whole site via the iSpy feature because I'm bored. I click on threads/posts that pique my interest. Or just randomly because I'm bored.

So ... .what's going on in here? :sexywink:

I know I have a bunch of shows to go, but it would have been nice to hear it in Dublin.

The Hokey Pokey ... might not be a bad idea to add to my growing list of "Dances I Will Do If Bono Ever Pulls Me Onstage."

The polka is at the top of the list, though. Do you think Irish dudes know how to polka?

Cori?

DG, I'm sure I must have told you girls at some point, but last tour I had a dream that they performed The Hokey Pokey.

I think I remember that. :lmao:

I can kind of understand how Laura and GG are feeling. The night after I saw U2, they played Gloria, which I had really wanted to hear live in person, not just on the bootlegs. Just my luck they play it the 2nd night. :grumpy: But in spite of that, my first ever U2 concert was amazing and I have nothing but wonderful memories. :)

That's exactly how the dream went. He was on a creaky wooden high school or church auditorium-type stage, went over to put the needle on a record player, and it started playing The Hokey Pokey, and he sang along with it. Myself and several children were on stage doing actions. When the song got over and I went to leave, I said something to the effect of "that was a lot of hokey, and not enough pokey." I can only guess that dream me was going for some sort of bizarre double entendre? I don't know.

But yes, by all means, they seem like Polka dancing sort of fellows, I'd give it a try if I were you.

But you didn't have any more shows after that, so I can see you being at least a little disappointed. :)

It's got to be a safer bet than me trying to do some sort of sexy dance like all the other girls that get pulled up. I couldn't pull it off like they did. :(

I'd just look like a big dork, so I might as well look like a big dork on purpose.

I have occasional dreams about U2 concerts, and it's usually something like U2 are playing in a bar, and hardly anyone is there so I'm right there in front on a bar stool, but I don't have my contacts in, so everything's all blurry and I can't see anything.

:scream:

I have U2 dreams all the time - usually I get brushed off by one of them - usually Edge, or they end before anything really interesting happens. one night in my dream Edge asked me to leave because I was in the front row and my boobs were distracting him!

It's now my fondest wish that you get pulled up. :)

I'm just dissapointed it's only August. :scream:

Too much hokey, not enough pokey. Oh the things our subconscious comes up with.

Is it wrong that I sort of wish my shows could be put off a few more months? :reject: The timing doesn't feel right, too much going on, you know?

I haven't really had many this tour, but the ones I have had, all i can remember is having to navigate these crazy, long, complex mazes (across fields, down alleyways, through many rooms, etc) in order to get into the stadium and get to my spot. GA anxiety, much?

I wonder if the guys know The Beer Barrel Polka? :hmm:

I'm now completely (well, mostly) at peace with my plan of winging the GA experience. Show up late afternoon, if I get on the outer rail or just one head back, awesome, if not, soundboard it is.

I have GA for the second Chicago show and Vegas. We'll see if I start freaking out once the shows come up.

I miss dancing the polka at Wisconsin wedding receptions. :( It's not a good reception without a polka!

My cousin had one polka just for the family at her reception in San Antonio last year. Bless her newly-Texan heart.

I've actually never been to one. What sort of technique is polka? Now that I think about it, I don't even know how to do a polka dance. When I think of polka, I picture someone playing the accordion, and people stomping feet and clapping, but not an actual dance.

I only know the basic polka step. It's a 4-4 beat, but you're only dancing on the first three beats. Like a One-Two-Three (four), One-Two-Three (four) where it feels like you're just ignoring the fourth beat.

Or something. That's how I think about it. My friends in college and I used to find rock songs to polka to. We could do a decent polka to "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

People who can really polka can do all these turns and fancy thing. Usually at the receptions I've been to, there's at least one older couple who can polka the hell out of that polka.

Here's a video of the kind of general gist of it. I swing around the floor a little more lively than these nice old folks, and am usually freaking exhausted by the end of a 3 minute song!

I would definitely bring polka music on your iPod just in case. Better to be safe than sorry!

I'm really torn about GA this time. Having a rail to lean on is essential, and being up close really does enhance my enjoyment of the show. It's like, being able to see the facial expressions of the performer makes me feel more involved in the show, I feel detached if I'm too far away. That goes for any performer, not just U2. Is that weird? :reject: But I think I'm going to wing it this leg, see how things are. If it's too crazy, I'll be at the side or back at the soundboard. If it's calmer, then I'll be in line for a spot up front.

Mia!!
