I got on "Boots" this morning! (Single review)

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

This is fantastic news if true, but I'm getting weirded out more every passing day by the lack of official news about the release. It's ridiculous. If you were trying to sell a product, wouldn't you start marketing it well in advance? It's already Thursday. We're supposed to hear the song Monday as well as be allowed to buy it on ITunes. The album comes out in just a month and a half, and we don't have an official tracklisting yet. This is NOT how corporate rock functions.

I knew the "reverse" bitching would start soon enough...

See folks, people bitch no matter what... They market too much, too little, they're playing old people music, they're playing young people music, their hair's too long, it's too short, they give me too little, they give me too much...

hahaha exactly

How long you like U2? You'll soon be bitter and twisted like me and not give a damn what other people think

Seriously though, I do agree with what you are saying, I do get all excited and feel like a mother hen towards them at times, but having my leg pulled about some on Bono's escapades over the years it get's a bit like water off a ducks back. Quite simply U2 are like Marmite, you love em or hate them. And I love them despite some tracks/or Lps that I would deem complete Turkeys

Maybe

I'm from the Bomb generation so I don't have same experience that has made you "bitter and twisted" yet.

Let's hope I don't have to go through it! I just know after I form my own opinion on the album I'll be paying close attention to the reviews, the chart positions, the success of the videos and the tour and I want it to go as well as possible.

At the end of the day though, you are right, none of that matters for how good YOU or ME think the music is.

I wish Bono didn't wear shades, damn Bono's took off his shades, why is wearing mascara??

Bitter & Twisted was said a bit tongue in cheek  I want them to blow everyone off the richter scale in 2009  But I am realistic to know with U2 sometimes it just doesn't happen

But love the word Hope!

Woah Fuck!

as an aside, there have been a few political blogs that have been kicking the shit out of Bono's NYT op-ed piece, and it's opened the door to a "Bono: Love him or Hate him?" debate. and i think that it's true, with Bono, you do love him or hate him, or, like me, love him and respect him but cringe at certain moments.

i've found that while some people may love or hate Bono, and even if they're not big fans of U2, everyone, and i do mean everyone, has at least half a dozen U2 songs that they love. not too many bands have that. so while i think Bono is love/hate, i think everyone has some U2 that they love.

Sounds good whatever it is. :hmm:
But then I thought Id downloaded Boots and it turned out to be someone else, though it was very U2 sounding guitar wise.

If it is U2, yay. If its not, yay to whoever did it, its good.

Nice post!

I find the people who hate him are the people who actually think that Bono takes himself seriously. Jumped up/Who does he think he is/he should leave politics to the politicians are some of the comments. He is SO self depreaciating it is funny.

Bono does what he does for two reasons A) He DOES care about what he get's involved in & B) Publicity! Consider this. BAD publicity is just as good as good!? You get someone who MUST live on Mars or something and thinks Who the hell is this Bono guy? Google and They discover U2 BINGO

But yes, as much as I love him, sometimes I sit there and think FOR GODS SAKE BONO SHUT UP

And now back to my 30 seconds of the Youtube clip

This is NOT how corporate rock functions.

Isn't this precisely what many people have been bitching about with the past two albums? So isn't the fact that they're not following conventions this time around a positive thing?

or, like me, love him and respect him but cringe at certain moments.

I'm like you, for the most part.
