You must look younger than me. I very, very rarely get carded. I'm less likely to be carded when I've not shaved in a few days, you should try it. Wait.
if i didn't shave people would just think i'm french. and yes, no one seems to believe i'm 25. i know i'll appreciate looking youthful when i'm older, but right now it's a pain in the ass.

both of them. they suck.

I know a lot of music stores are getting killed here - the two most commonly recognised music stores here, Sounds and Real Groovy are either dead or on it's death bed.

It's kinda sad.

Woah, Real Groovy's on the way out?

I suppose it's not a shock, though. The traditional methods of music distribution were already becoming outdated and less profitable, and an economic downturn is just another nail in the coffin.

bite me  i get carded for every 21+ show i attend or any bar i go to. (incidentally, for a place in this area to permit smoking it's got to be 21+ now) but when i actually order alcohol somewhere? oftentimes i'm not carded. i don't get it.

and dude, if your hairdresser closed, you'd have like six months to find a new one.

Owned. I've never once been carded to get into a pub. Heh, I remember when I was little and things were more lax, we'd always meet my Grandad at the pub ...

Psh, I almost never go more than 3 months without a haircut. I prefer my hair shorter and I'll probably have a cut in about two weeks. I rather like my hairdresser - a 4 minute walk away, he does good cuts, and he's the cheapest I've found anywhere in Melbourne.

I think they're between sinking or swimming, but more likely to sink.

I daresay that stores for music only have had their day, and it'll end up with places like JB Hi Fi that sell everything including music, with the other sales subsidising the music.

oh wow, i think i've ordered something from real groovy. that name sounds familiar. here, tower records has gone under, but that's all i can think of. a local chain has closed a couple locations, but it didn't bum me out. they overcharged for everything. i'd pay $25 for just an ordinary cd back in the 90s - nothing special. not an import, not something rare. new releases.

Sounds like normal prices here.

I generally go about a month between haircuts. I've found it just looks better.

 i must say though i don't miss the way it used to be. i love having restaurants be completely non-smoking. usually on thursdays my mom and i go to said bar because it's trivia night. it's funny, when i go at night i don't get carded there. it's only during the day. it's hilarious when i order tea and their response is "can i see your id?" one time i forgot my purse and they refused to serve us. :| i mean laws are laws, but come on. you can't tell me i look under 21.

 long live the fro!

That seems like a sound assessment to me. I can also see bookshops increasingly diversifying and expanding their music and DVD sections. Books seem to be a more profitable medium; for all the articles I read about "the death of paper", it seems almost nobody prefers reading a book on their computer.

yeah, though as a comparison, around that time i could go to best buy and get the same cd for like $15. so to pay so much more was ridiculous. as soon as a best buy opened here i went to them for music. then we got the internet and i just bought cds online.

i know it's different for me since 1. i'm a girl, 2. i have long hair, 3. i'm trying to grow it even longer, but getting one every month sounds crazy. as it is i get my hair cut once or twice a year. i just leave it in the hands of my stylist and let her decide when it's time for a trim, cuz she's awesome. i think i had my hair cut last back in august. i went to her again last week but i guess i didn't need a cut.

I'm glad that now pubs are smoke-free here. I imagine I wouldn't be going to see the Aussie U2 Show if smoking were still allowed. Though the obnoxious drunks are just about enough to put me off anyway. It's lucky I enjoy the band and always have good company to talk to. Oh, and in your avatar, you look like a pretty young khanda bear.

No way am I having the 'fro over summer!

Wow, that's rather frequent. I don't think I've ever had my hair cut more than once every 6-8 weeks. So far this year, I've only had it cut ... twice. Though it was cut a third time in the very last week of 2007, so I guess that effectively counts as a third for 2008.

god, i wish pubs here were smoke-free  though for the bars/pubs i go to, it's like 50/50 as to which ones are smoke-free. i was (pleasantly) surprised that my favourite one (which makes the best french onion soup in the world) went smoke-free. it's a shame it's about 15 minutes away, as the one with the weirdos carding me at lunch is maybe a five minute drive. no soup, but their food is still good. they totally fucked with their appetizer menu too. and ugh, i haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate being at a concert and people smoking. last concert i saw i think was the raconteurs. it was at a convention center, the whole thing was weird. but i mean, it wouldn't even occur to me to smoke. yet as usual, a couple songs into the set i started smelling cigarette smoke, and later pot smoke. i have a really sensitive nose for it. :| and ha, i do look kinda young in my avatar! :D

aww well true, but you should must grow it out come wintertime.

I don't think I've ever been to a concert where smoking has been legal. If it's happened at any gigs I've seen this year, I haven't noticed either. Some people - including Matthias! - were sneaking a smoke or two at the U2 stadium gigs in 2006. But I've no idea how you'd hide that you're smoking at somewhere like the East Brunswick Club, where I doubt you can get more than 250-300 people through the doors.

Having so much hair is a pain in the arse. I'll probably only do it again when I go to a U2 gig as Adam.

ooh, just a trim or are you planning on doing something different?

Heh, whenever I do something different I'm never that happy with it. I just keep it more or less shoulder length, although I was considering growing it out quite a bit longer. I need a trim regularly, my hair is pretty heavy, and it's getting too long, particularly at the back.
