So. I'm spending the night with my boyfriend.

We had uh.. finished up in bed, and were just laying about. Well, I have a spot on my ankle that gets irritated sometimes and needs lotion. So I asked him if he had some. He pointed to the shelf. So I got the lotion, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to pump out, so I brought it to him. Being the goofy bugger that he is, he decided to squirt it ALL over my legs. Unpleasant, but not a problem. We just rubbed it in.

A minute goes by. Suddenly my legs start feeling itchy-burny. I look at them, and tiny red hives are cropping up all over them. I run to the bathroom and wash off all the lotion with cold water.

Fucking random skin allergies. I wish I could single out the one ingredient that pops up in certain brands of soap and lotion that makes me break out like this, so I'd know to avoid it.

For me, it's stearyl alcohol. Not sure if that's how you spell it, but I have to be way careful of lotions because of it.

man, nationstates2 is slow. every issue i addressed on sunday or something are still pending.

Yeah, I keep waiting for something to happen, but ... it's not. Snore.

Come on, people, these games have way more potential than this.

i know, nationstates is moving faster than this. i don't get why it's taking so long for any legislature to move. i was all excited when i had six issues but at this point the game's now moving as fast as nationstates, where i get two issues a day.

You had six issues? I've only had the very first two I started with and that's it.

i know this won't mean anything to either of you, but an electronics chain here in the states has filed for bankruptcy. it's kind of depressing how many places i like or go to are closing. i bought my first computer there. and the restaurant we always went to on new year's suddenly closed with no warning because the whole chain filed for bankruptcy. coincidentally, another chain owned by the same company has a handful of locations left since those were franchises and not owned by the company, and one of them is here. so there's still that.

if the economy continues to get worse or at least stay the same, then it's gonna get rough. individually-owned places are closing, chains...it's annoying. meanwhile, this place by my house cards me whenever i order a fucking iced tea. they get to stay open, since no one can watch a sports game at their house.

Those iced teas are loaded with booze, don't you know? And I know it wasn't your main point, but I find it hilarious that I'm almost never carded for anything. Like the gig on Saturday? I forgot my ID. Didn't matter as they barely even glanced at me. I don't think I've been carded once since I started growing my beard.

And I'm yet to see any closures of places I like due to the declining economy, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. I'm convinced that some of the shops near me are one bad week away from bankruptcy. Just hope my hairdresser isn't one of them ...

bite me  i get carded for every 21+ show i attend or any bar i go to. (incidentally, for a place in this area to permit smoking it's got to be 21+ now) but when i actually order alcohol somewhere? oftentimes i'm not carded. i don't get it.

and dude, if your hairdresser closed, you'd have like six months to find a new one.

You must look younger than me. I very, very rarely get carded. I'm less likely to be carded when I've not shaved in a few days, you should try it. Wait.

I know a lot of music stores are getting killed here - the two most commonly recognised music stores here, Sounds and Real Groovy are either dead or on it's death bed.

It's kinda sad.
oh wow, i think i've ordered something from real groovy. that name sounds familiar. here, tower records has gone under, but that's all i can think of. a local chain has closed a couple locations, but it didn't bum me out. they overcharged for everything. i'd pay $25 for just an ordinary cd back in the 90s - nothing special. not an import, not something rare. new releases.
