The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I never thought the Craig Armstrong version of Stay could be seen as a remix..

Yeah, I think the term remix is often misunderstood in here. In order to be a remix you still use the original masters, nothing on this version is from the orignial masters, it was completely new.

I recommend,

the entire EBTTRT remix EP
200px-U2_Even_Better_Than_the_Real_Thing_Remixes.png

I used to play that before going clubbing...

Mofo (Phunk Force mix)
Beautiful Day [Quincey & Sonance Remix]
I'm Not Your Baby (Skysplitter Dub)
Lady With the Spinning Head [Extended Dance Mix]
Salomé [Zooromancer Remix]

the entire Discothèque CD-single (Discothèque+Holy Joe)
the entire LNOE#2CD:
-Last Night on Earth [First Night in Hell Mix]
-Numb (The Soul Assassins Mix)
-Happiness Is a Warm Gun [The Danny Saber Mix]
-Pop Muzik (Pop Mart Mix)

in short, anything by David Morales (Lemon, Discothéque)
or anything by Paul Oakenfold (all Perfecto mixes: EBTTRT, Lemon)

but the best one is undeniably Ferry Corsten's New Year's Day remix (from War remastered ltd.ed.)

So just checking but NLOTH 2 is not a remix right? Alt version?

Ugh - that's got the remix I was talking about where Edge's solo is totally out of sync with the rest of the tracks. The other elements are okay, I guess, but that guitar thing always drove me crazy!

Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

My list (NOT in order of preference):

Beautiful Day (Quincey and Sonance Mix)
City of Blinding Lights (Phones P.D.A. In N.Y.C. Mix)
Desire (Hollywood Remix)
Discothèque (Hexadecimal Mix)
Holy Joe (Garage Mix)
Holy Joe (Guilty Mix)
Elevation (Influx Remix)
Elevation (Tomb Raider Mix)
Even Better Than the Real Thing (The Perfecto Mix)
Lady With the Spinning Head (Extended Dance Mix)
Lemon (The Perfecto Mix)
Lemon (Oakenfold "Jeep" Mix)
Get on Your Boots (Justice Remix)
Dirty Day (Junk Day Mix)
Dirty Day (Bitter Kiss Mix)
Electrical Storm (William Orbit Mix)
Gone (New Mix)
Numb (New Mix)
When Love Comes to Town (Live from the Kingdom Mix)
God Part II (Hard Metal Dance Mix)
Can't Help Falling In Love (Triple Peaks Remix)
Magnificent (Fred Faulke Remix)
Magnificent (Tong and Rogers Mix)
Stay (Faraway, so Close!) (Craig Armstrong Remix)

I like many of U2's remixes. Often it gives a different perspective to the song. For example, the Justice Remix of GOYB is completely different from the original.

Some of my favorite in no order:
BD (Quincey and Sonance REmix)
Elevation (Influx Mix)
Night & Day (Steel String Mix)
Wire (Dub Mix)
Lemon (Perfecto Mix)
Desire (Hollywood Mix)
Mysterious Ways (Perfecto Mix)
GOYB (Justice Mix)
Numb (Gimme Some More Dignity Mix)
SATS (Monster Truck Mix)
In a Little While - N.O.W. Remix
October (Wally Badarou Remix)
New Years Day (Picotto Mix)
Dirty Day (Better Kiss Mix)
Vertigo (Trent Reznor Remix - hated this at first, now love it!)
Pop Muzik (Radio Edit Mix)
Even Better Than the Real Thing (Perfecto Remix)
Salome (Zooromance Remix)
Magnificent (Fred Faulke Remix)
If You Wear That Velvet Dress (Jools Holland "Mix" - technically not a remix, but I love this alternative version! :hyper: )

plus more!

and special mention to one of the best fan made mixes ever:
All I Want Is You (Diffusion Mix) (I chatted online with the guy who made this way back when, before it mutated to whatever it's called today).

I used to play that before going clubbing...

Mofo (Phunk Force mix)
Beautiful Day [Quincey & Sonance Remix]
I'm Not Your Baby (Skysplitter Dub)
Lady With the Spinning Head [Extended Dance Mix]
Salomé [Zooromancer Remix]

the entire Discothèque CD-single (Discothèque+Holy Joe)

It's almost as if you took the words out of my mouth. I had the below ready to post when I read your post. Here's to the Pop era of top, top quality remixes.

Worst:
All Elevation Remixes-except the (Tombraider Mix)

I reckon the influx mix is far far superior to the original Elevation - it was great the way they used it as the intro on that tour.

As for other great remixes (why waste time listing all the bad ones?):
New Year's Day (US Mix)
Lemon (Perfecto Mix)
Mysterious Ways (Perfecto Mix)
Bottoms (Watashitachi No Ookina Yume) (Zoo Station Remix)

And Pete Tong's Mix of Magnificent is really growing on me.

The Pop era was the best though. Look at all the great mixes:
Staring At The Sun (Sad Bastards Mix)
Discotheque (DM Deep Club Mix)
Discotheque (Howie B, Hairy B Mix)
I'm Not Your Baby (Skysplitter Dub)
Last Night On Earth (First Night In Hell Mix)

Staring at the Sun in particular is excellent, and the Howie B, Hairy B mix of Discotheque just takes that song in an amazing new direction entirely.

What remix are you talking about exactly?

Night & Day (Steel String Mix)

actually that's the only version I ever play :hyper:

Also New Years Day Ferry Corsten Remix is good too.

Ferry thinks it's the best thing he's ever done, why would we argue with that?

I went back to listen to the ones I had and I don't think I have it anymore. I thought it was one of the Apollo 440 ones, but those aren't the one I remember. Maybe it was some crazy unofficial mess that I mistook for the, uh, real thing.

Been looking for this for years

'Africa' - Dynamic Bass. Samples New Year's Day.

YouTube - DYNAMIC BASE - AFRICA
I think there's more versions of this song with "New Year's Day" samples. I enjoy this kind of stuff. :)

I've found 4 versions in my U2 folder.

Africa [Vocal Dance Version]
Africa [Club Version]
Africa [Vocal Club Version]
Africa [Alternative Version]

I had a listen at the Perfecto and 440 mix that I happened to have as mp3 and couldn't find it either, on Apollo 440 Stealth Sonic Remix it feels like the song is being pulled apart, and the listener with it, but that is just the Apollo 440 style. The beat is slightly ahead of all the other tracks, not just the slide guitar.

best remixes: (in my opinion)

Gone - Mike Hedges Mix
Lemon- Perfecto Mix
Lady with the spinning head- extended dance mix

and I like the Dirty Day (junk Day) mix a lot, but not as much as the original

I think LWTSH-EDM can just about be found on anybody`s playlist almost anywhere.

Yeah the Dirty Day (Junk Day Mix) is really cool, the song just starts off really well and keeps going. It so awesome how many remixes are out there...
I have listened to some of the Magnificent remixes :crack: and out of the ones I heard, the only one I like is Adam & Soha mix,and I haven`t heard the Redanka mix yet and for sure it is probably kick ass.

I like remixes of U2 songs because they give a different sound to a great song (usually). With that said, I give you my 2 favorite remixes of two GREAT songs.

I might like this more than the original...might...... :sexywink:
YouTube - U2 - Stay (Craig Armstrong Mix)

I love with or with out you and I really like the beat with this one(give it time to get into the song). The slow build into the song is great, you dont know its u2 until a few min in and then it hits you!
YouTube - U2 - With Or Without You (Whitelabel Bootleg Remix 2003)

best "pure" remixes (not slightly extended or changed versions of the album tracks themselves)... Perfecto mix of EBTTRT, Jacknife remix of Vertigo, and maybe the Solar Plexus Club mix of Mysterious Ways.

Worst remixes, I can't think of right now. There's a lot that I haven't listened to much again though after the first time, haha.

EBTTRT (Rhythm Stick Mix) Is pretty cool and I think it is the one of the extra vids off of The Best Of 1990-2000 DVD if i`m not mistaken, and is probably under a different name.
