It's a great opener but I it's a bit weird to not open with a song off of the new album.

Exactly what I'm thinking. U2 playing their intro themselves, it's only 2 minutes anyway. Would be rather cool.

Still doubting the BD as opener theory, though.

They didn't use random songs. SBS is the ending of that section. They just stopped due to the time.

Keep in mind this wasn't a full show it was only 12 songs so there are quite a few more left. I imagine we'll see different songs better.
