The latest Creed quote that makes me want to kill things

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Whoooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

I was not intending to "insult" Martha. She just made a very general statement about Led Zeppelin that I whole-heartily disagree with, thats all. Martha: You don't like Led Zep, thats fine. But please don't make a general statement about them.

Also, I don't want you to "go away" completely. I just wanted you to reflect on the statement...and why you don't like Led Zeppelin.

Basstrap, it's not just you. I noticed the Cashmere rip-off too.

I wonder how Led Zeppelin feels about Creed's remarks.

P.S. Stapp sucks.

Not a Zep fan at all but it's undeniable that their supreme musicianship and immense popularity with younger bands and musicians made them one of the most influential bands of all time. Neither of which applies to that third rate Eddie Vedder impersonater Scott Stapp.

Maybe this thread is running out of steam, but I just want to say I totally agree with Martha about Led Zep. They did suck most of the time, imo. I can't stand Creed, but Led Zep was also derivative which is why critics (and a few bluesmen) disliked them. But I guess they paid the price when they were forced to ante up to Willie Dixon for ripping him off without giving him due credit.

Please break up Creed!! Do us all a favor.

So tell me what the Press has been saying. Creed has already lost one member of the band. They compare themselves to U2 well they can never be another U2 they have already had a lineup change. People are buying Creed because there isn't any other music out there to by in the states.

Yes..You heard her.. She dropped the F Bomb on ya.. I'd be tempted to say 'It's not wise to F#ck with Me', but then I'd be looking for the HORROR to have my Back and He'd be nowhere to be found.

We're kind of starting to feel that way."

This band must be stopped at all costs.

Oh, that's totally it! I knew that riff sounded familiar and I couldn't place it. for some reason, I thought it came from a Puff Daddy song for that Godzilla movie.

So really, Creed is like Puff Daddy-- always ripping off someone else's songs and trying to pass them off as original.

Not every thread. And not more than once in the threads I do it. No doubt your searching revealed this, but you are ignoring it.

After you said there was nothing wrong with it, I thought I'd try it and see for myself. Apparently, there's something wrong with it, if I do it. Would you prefer it, if I just posted an empty message with the thumbs up icon?

And now, for some reason, you have become aggressive and threatening. "Don't fuck with me"

I'm not being aggressive, abusive, threatening... 2-3 posts per day you don't like, and you become like this...

Wheeeee! My first folder on fire thingee! I don't think I've made a post that had more than 10 replies before.

Anyway, maybe I should explain my reasoning for starting the umpteenth "Creed Sucks" thread. Most of the time, Creed doesn't enter my thought process, because I'm too busy listening to U2, Pink Floyd, Moby, Led Zeppelin (heh heh), etc. But this quote in SPIN really irked me. It's actually not just this one quote, it's just the series of quotes and articles in which Scott Stapp and Creed have been trying to award themselves credibility solely on the basis that they have sold millions of records, and that they themselves think they are important.

Creed are basically a modern version of Journey. In their heyday, the 70's to early '80s, Journey had a string of million-selling albums and sold out concerts. They too were bashed in the press, labelled "corporate-rock." I'm sure that the members of Journey took themselves very seriously, and thought that they would be around forever. Fast forward 15 or so years: Journey now releases albums that no one buys, tours on the oldies ampitheatre circuit (not with Steve Perry, but with a sound-alike lead singer), and appears on Behind the Music. They are a band that no one takes seriously, has influenced no one, and have made no lasting impact in the music scene. Whether Creed like it or not, THIS IS THEIR FUTURE. They are already on their way, seeing as that they already have a Behind The Music episode!

Oh, and by the way, I'm very aware that Bono made some very outrageous comments back in the day, such as this one back in 1981: "There's a certain spark, a certain chemistry that was special about the Stones, the Who and the Beatles, and I think it's also special about U2." However, anyone can listen to the first notes of "I Will Follow" on their first album, and hear something that is totally original, a sound that would eventually change the world. There is no such sound or spark in the music of Creed. There are only shadows and poses.

Also, contrary to some others on this board, I think that arguements and disagreements are great, and are a healthy means of expression. Just because someone doesn't agree with a certain point or idea does not mean that they shouldn't be forthright with their opinion. But...we can at least be civil. The word "dogdick" doeesn't apppear in any conversation that I would deem civil, agreed?.

So, as I said before, I am happy to receive so many responses to my post, but let's keep it to a dull roar, okay? And let the Creed bashing continue!!!

Yeah, it's like they think God walked through the room or something.

As someone else said, they're harmless. I'd never buy a record, but they have fans who love them, people are picking on them, so they come back with defensive things in support of themselves. Why shouldn't they? Anybody who sells millions of records has the right to view themselves as "important" in the music business for as long as they are selling millions of records. They're becoming huge and I see no end in sight. And you know what? The world is big enough for both U2 and Creed, it doesn't have to be a competition, it isn't a competition, Creed is Creed, U2 is U2, Creed's fans love Creed, U2's fans love U2, and some Creed fans love U2 and some U2 fans love Creed, peace love and understanding, amen.
