. . .never been very good at this ranking thing (always feel like I'm hurting someones feelings
I know) . . . sooo, for what its worth - have come back to this album after a little rest (played it non stop for about 3 weeks until the kids were nearly in tears
)
1. Magnificent - still get chills up my spine when Edge's guitar kicks in and there is something just gloriously uplifting about the song - makes my heart sing
2. No Line - loved this one from the get go and still do - love bono's slightly menacing undertow and the groove that sits quietly in the background - fantastico
3. Breathe - love it cuz its a little erratic but an absolute grower, adore the imagery and scatty lyrics and the pulsing guitars
4. White as Snow - lovely and lush and I like that it feels like an Irish folk song
5. Crazy Tonight - the opening and closing seal the deal for me and listening to the live treatment of it
great
6. Boots - fast and furious and bloody good fun . . . puts a big ole smile on my face everytime (and listening to my kids trying to keep up with the lyrics makes it all the sweeter
)
7. Fez - Being Born - I know a lot of people find it boring but I quite like the disparities between beginning and end of the song, it takes you somewhere a little unexpected
8. Moment of Surrender - I see saw a bit on this one, sometimes I love it and other times, meh, big ole skip . . .its growing on me as a closer though . . .
9. Unknown Caller - I sometimes just find myself doing the cringe when I hear the old restart/reboot yourself refrain . . .but loving what I have heard of it live so far
10. Stand Up Comedy - reminds me of The Cruel Sea and last few listens its been on the receiving end of the skip button . . .not sure why, really loved it when I first heard it, and now, well, it still whips the butt of some of the stuff on the radio at the moment but its not really doing it for me anymore
11. Cedars of Lebanon - lovely piece but some days I just can't be bothered listening to it all . . .
no I feel like I need to do penance!
been an interesting read flicking through this thread - and I actually think its fantastic that there is a real diversity of opinions on this album re fave songs
