Russty, thanks for the compliment -- my best friend took it with my camera phone. I wanted to make sure I had at least one I could post, since my stepmother and her film camera are now heading towards Arizona for the winter.

Anyway, it went very well. Three family members managed to make it to Detroit despite nearly six inches of snow on Thursday. (My brother was snowed in in Cleveland.)

Our graduation procession into the arena was so loud, with such a cheering and waving crowd and an orchestra playing, I felt like a rock star. It was like that joke: The new pope walks out onto the Vatican balcony, waves his arms, and the crowd below him goes wild. "So this is how Bono feels," the Holy Father says. Yes, I kind of felt like Bono that night.
