I just wanted to write the following on Bono's behalf.....he is making such a valiant effort in his "One" campaign. Some many often challenge his position on trying to make this World a better place {the naysayers}. Please do not interpret this as Bono's words but only mine as I would feel in "his shoes".

Never Wanted
Never wanted to be a preacher man . . .
Never wanted to beg for want
as all I ever needed was to sing my words of love.
It was to be so simple
write what was in my heart
the band would play the music as I would sing along
and the fans would all agree to our celebrity and fame.
Never wanted to be the hero-type
Never wanted to fight the battle
as all I ever needed was to sing my words of thought...
except those words of thought
changed throughout the times and
somewhere along life’s path my feelings got in the way.
The causes were many and the more I sang the music
my words became my feelings and tears would fill my eyes.
But I was not alone....as I looked around the world
I cried those children’s tears and felt the AIDS pain and
I realized poverty had never gone away.
Never wanted the political role
Never wanted to attend trade talks
as all I ever needed was to sing my words and be heard...
except what I never really wanted became my reality as
“One” became the embodiment of it all.
It was to be so simple....
but then who said life was to be a bed of roses....
let the naysayers criticize a seeker of change
for if even a small iota of goodness results from my actions
then it is worth the effort.
So I will continue to sing the music....
