I was in the Inner Circle both nights at Wembley, and both nights went out to the Loo before U2 came on. Bit of a struggle, but I got in and out both nights ok. And I was dead centre opposite Bono both times
Ok so basically the rule for cameras per Zootopia is this:
Point and shoot cameras have always been allowed at U2 shows, if that answers part of your question.
Venues say different things - Fedex Field and Soldier Field say cameras are allowed. The policy I saw for U Va. was U2-specific. Hopefully it won't be enforced. They actually allow cameras for games at U Va.
IDK if anyone has a different opinion on this, but I think cameras are just *always* a crapshoot, even if the band allows 'em, you have to get through the security people, and they're the "gatekeepers" and say whatever they want to if they see a camera, regardless of the band caring or not whether you bring one. :/ It's up to you if the risk of possible delay/losing your place in line is worth it. I've been on both sides & usually take the risk nowadays.
Good point. I've tried to take my DSLR or compact into about 30 different events (sports, concerts, etc.). Even within the security detail, there's inconsistency in the rules and their understanding. I've had 3 or 4 run-ins with security after screeners waved me and the camera through. Places like universities can feel like they can override what the band wants. At Virginia university events, I noticed that screening is very tight after the Va. Tech shootings a couple of years ago.
This is what UVa. has posted currently (my highlighting):
I guess I'll call them anyway to confirm it.
yes, people will have begun to line up the night before. Showing up at 4 a.m. will put up about 25 people back in some cities and about 75 people back in others.

Wow. I'm glad I'm not going to this show now
In case anyone is interested in Soldier Field's Policies... for this weekend's U2 shows in Chicago (9/12 + 9/13), see Soldier Field | Facility Guide
excerpt:

Hand-held binoculars and small still-photo cameras are permitted in Soldier Field. Video and movie cameras are NOT permitted in the stadium without the user holding proper media credentials.
Prohibited Items
The following items are NOT permitted to be brought into the stadium:
Alcoholic beverages

Bags and purses larger than 12"x12"x12"
Balloons and beach balls
Cans, bottles or other beverage containers
Confetti
Coolers

Noise-making devices (ie/horns, whistles, etc.)
Poles to display banners or flags
Umbrellas
Video or movie cameras
Weapons
Stroller
Any other items deemed to be dangerous or inappropriate
Cameras with lenses longer than 6 inches
I really think weapons should be higher on that list
Yeah, I love how weapons are just one notch above strollers.
From what I coujld make out, the front middle would be a challenge to get in and out of. If you stand off to the side (about a 90 degree angle to Bono) you can come and go as you please right up to show time.
I've been trying to find this but haven't so far: Up to this point, is there only one entry into the pit/heart/whatever, or are there multiple sides to go in through? And can YOU decide if you want to get into the pit or outer rail, or do you have to go to one particular area until it fills up?
So did anyone have any camera issues for the Chicago shows?
There were plenty of full on dslrs in Chicago. This will be more dependent on the venue though.
I know this has been posted alot of times but at what time should i arrive if i want to be in the inner circle but not in the front. In the back of the inner circle.
thanks
