A sombre sonnet- my friend wrote this for me

My friend did this for me but i thought it was lovely:-

Two special tips for a teenager in bloom,
Strutting and fretting without a pout,
"Never kiss a girl whose brothers have knife scars"
And "Never gamble without knowing a way back out"

Some golden rules for a warrior in battle,
Vowing to be victorious before the moon begins to vane,
"Never charge forward with one's eyes closed"
And "Know your enemy and knave your terrain"

But some ways for a friend to say "I Love You"
Under the star lit gaze of the curtain of the sky,
A flower to show your delicacy and beauty,
And something warm which will bring out the light,
Like a smiling face to keeps the shadows away,
Brightening up your life and holding darkness at bay.
