Not even close to what I said. His death and the manner in which it happened was bad for the team/community. Not only did he die, but the way that it happened was even worse and let his young fans down.

Nah, he pretty much nailed what you said. "At least this superstar dying paves the way for a superstar who might actually deserve it." Fuck right off.

Well that was awkward... glad I didn't have to say anything ??

Anyways, Hewson, re: Browns. I accepted it the first time as a possibility and do again. But at some point I realize that PF is right... I dunno what's the point of trying to establish which the worst. I've no clue what it's like being a Browns fan and never will. I'm sure there are a few cases of dark times in franchises that are arbitrarily awful and hopeless.

I'm fairly certain that being a Redskins fan is worse than being a Marlins fan. Mostly just because I can't imagine anything worse. The ownership is embarrassing, the on-field performance is disgusting, and you can't even say the team name out loud without pissing people off. It's so, so bad.

I dunno. Being a Mariners fan is pretty bad. Zero championships in their history, 4 playoff appearances in 41 seasons, wasted the peak years of Griffey, Edgar, Ichiro, Felix. Refused to give Randy Johnson more than a 3 year contract and pissed him off so much that he stopped showing up until he was traded, and then had one of the most successful multi-year runs in history. Currently have a massive payroll for the 4th best team in their division (on paper at least). Haven’t had any of their top 15 overall draft picks work out since 1993 (unless Zunino’s turning a corner).

Who here can genuinely relate to firesale a la Marlins? The Stanton thing was a dagger, and the Ozuna one that just happened is even worse.

The White Sox had a pretty infamous (at least among Chicago sports fans) firesale in the late '90s that included the "White Flag Trade" where we gave up some great big league talent for a bunch of prospects.

But nothing compared to what is going on with the Marlins now. So the answer is not me, I guess.

And speaking of the White Sox, holy fuck, we're trying to trade for Machado? I knew we'd be in on him in 2018 when he hits free agency. Haven't had a consistent 3rd baseman in over a decade. But trading for him this offseason would be a shocker considering he has only one year of control. Fuck it, though. He's a superstar. I'm down. YOLO.

Christmas comes early for Evan Longoria.

"If you're going to San Francisco..."

He gave his all for TB. I'm so happy he is no longer in the AL.

At this moment in time. As it stands. Now. I don't know why you're so bothered by these words.

It's also really strange that you're so against the notion. You honestly think the Mets are a more... unfortunate existence? A disaster, really?

My Royals are going to be disastrous the next couple years. They are probably in the worst shape.

yea i'm a phillies fan and ill be the first to admit that 2008 took the phils completely out of that discussion, although they were leading the race by several laps up to that point.

2015 World Series champs, not anywhere near the discussion.

Yeah but they couldn't keep the momentum up and the window closed. they only have 1 WS trophy to show for it...not like the Yankees or Giants past successes etc. the Alex Gordon resigning was atrocious and they let Ben Zobrist get away [emoji45].

That parade was awesome though.

Oh I feel soooooooo sorry for your plight.

How awful it must be now.

Gee, I hope you're able to pull through.

The Phillies have been fucking brutal since 2012, but even that would have been mostly tolerable given the 2007-2011 teams had it not been at the same time as every other Philadelphia team getting incredibly shitty.

LuckyNumber7 I'd rather be a Mariner's fan right now and it's not even a question. Baseball is pretty much dead to me.[/QUOTE said:
You know , you and I have had our discussions over the years here, but I've never wished for poor things on you. I'm not defending Mr. Jeter, but perhaps he had to completely disassemble the franchise before it could be rebuilt again with a new plan in place. I'd give it a little more time. The Mariners, on the other hand will continue to be a mediocre team treading water in the AL West. They've never even tasted the World Series. But, they sure do have an awesome ballpark and most of the time their uniforms look cool.

I imagine most Marlins fans you come across can understand why the team was to be dismantled. Another cheapskate who didn't have enough money bought the team. So the last cheapskate destroyed fan confidence and put it in debt, and the new cheapskate learned nothing.

Anyways, it had to be done. I was aware of that. It's still not being done right, done enough, or done in a respectable fashion. The returns received for all the gold gloves and silver sluggers shipped out prove that Jeter is sitting at the kids' table.

And if you think this Marlins organization has better prospects of not simply treading water for the decade to come, you're dead wrong. We literally just traded our most valuable assets for nothing. We had one of the worst farm systems in the league prior to the trades, and they didn't really get any better. We just devalued a talent pool... there's no "rebuild" to be had right now. They're going to be a last place team for a solid half decade before they even have a prospect pool worth a damn.
