My prediction for the rumored 10/20 announcement:

New single (likely GOOYOW)
Release Date for Album (likely 12/1)
Track listing (12 songs I hope)
Option to Pre-order album
Announcement that there will be a supporting tour but no dates, just when it will start and the continents (ex. The iE tour will begin in April and hit x continents with a detail Tour announcement to follow in the coming weeks)

I think they will break out the tour announcement from the album announcement to generate buzz for the album closer to the actual release. Also, it they decide to link tour ticket sales with the album sales, this might be good idea. The promo for SOE seems to be very spread out but calculated (single release, Fallon performance, lyric video, Kygo release, official video, acoustic release, artsy video, new single(maybe), etc..)

I would have to think there will be some more US TV appearances and I would hope some U.K. apperences too.

I got soul but you've got gasoline

:lmao:

Now there's a lyric that's worse than "a boy" or SUC's "little old lady". Not the gasoline one. It's literally why I've never given The Killers the time of day. If that line's part of a song you're prepared to back to the hilt, you must have nothing of value to offer.

If Fresh and Furious isn't on the album this band can go to hell

We will just have to make U2 write a song called Fresh and Furious.

I'd venture to say it's an anomaly of their music in many aspects. So much so that it was forgiven by their fans, per say, and embraced. Imagine if we all just agreed to like Boots because it was catchy and they normally don't do that to us...

Well, Boots isn't even catchy. That song is annoying.

What's the O/U on number of times Axver has bitched about YTBTAM? I'm not going to go back and count, but whatever line someone makes, I'll take the over.

Also, U2 has to kinda use the longest song titles to make up for the fact they have the shortest band name.

Yeah, it's a good live song. I'd probably prefer to hear it at a concert over Vertigo and Elevation, just for a change. They'll probably never touch anything from NLOTH again, tbh.

I'd say it was passable as a live song on the 360 tour. It was ok live but the performances to promote it were the worst performances of my time following the band

It's the best thing that's ever happened a bitchin'.

I'm saying 117 times.

I think the NO before the NAME makes it singular.

no, because then you would say "where the streets have no car", for example

i think the fact that a street has one name, but, for example, can have several cars, makes it fine

why, why am i even doing this?

It should be Where The Street Has No Name or Streets Have No Names. No question.

Bono fucked up.

Acronym would remain the same though, Headache, right?

If it makes you all feel any better, it's pretty valid in the context of Belfast. Just speaking from my mother's own neighborhood around Ardoyne... it's pretty typical in Belfast for the same name to constitute a neighborhood and all of its streets. For example:

If you were to zoom in even more you'd realize even more smaller Heskeths and Glenbryns etc.

So in some sense, where the collective streets don't have a name is perfectly fine.

For some reason that's Bono's one little error that seems to work. It looks more iconic and evocative to just have "Name".

I'll excoriate his other fumbles but this one gets a pass.

Bono's use of the singular 'name' is proper here because of the 'no' (as in zero quantity) preceding it. The singular is determined by the quantity zero ('no'), not by the plural 'Streets'.

If the title was 'Where the Streets Have Many Names', for example, then the plural form of the word would be necessary and proper.

so it's come to this. picking on the grammar of U2's best song.

we all deserve a delayed album until say, never.

I'm going to go ahead and just... space out... for the next week until some news!

This is sad. I'm guessing its going to this way until the 20th.

Do you think U2 is still releasing an album this year??? ;)

I am surprised there hasn't been a few more leaks. We did get the video of GOOYOW last week which was a nice little tease.

Not sure we get a new single next week, so I hope people are prepared for just the announcement. I expect a full track listing, and possibly articles in the coming days after the 20th describing the tone and flow of the album. Something more than Bono-isms "Punk Rock & The Supremes"

I'll be on a silent retreat for nearly two weeks, so that'll help kill some time before the album drops. Even though it's only been just over three years from SOI, it feels like 10 years thanks to Trump. Time has stood still

I've been through the desert on a street with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain

Ironically enough, the band this parody lyric comes from is named America. Bono would most definitely approve.
