Good to hear. They fucking took long enough to make it, so I would hope it has some strengths. I mean, that was a 'Cock-sized gap between album releases.

Wouldn't call it a slow start since January had great albums by The Bats and Cloud Nothings.

I was pretty excited to get back from my travels and sit down properly with the new Slowdive, Fazerdaze, and Mew. Good albums, all. Fazerdaze is going to be the new star of New Zealand indie music. She's wonderful.

Well that's good to hear about the strength of the album. Happy that I managed to grab tickets for them at my favorite Chicago venue as well.

Speaking of concerts, I saw Slowdive last week - holy shit what a live band. Crazy for You was transcendent.

Wow, this is quite the praise. Can't wait for June 16.

I can't say that it's a particularly hooky or marketable record, but the production, dynamics, arrangements and integration of fresh, mildly avant garde material make it a very special album. Every single song has appeal and nothing over the course of 55 minutes stands out as filler.

I wasn't feeling The Far Field very much. You can insert the hipster cat meme after I say this, but I think Future Islands are regressing. In Evening Air and On the Water are where it's at for them.
