Ticketless Entry Problems

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I'm looking to sell my RZ tix for London 2 and London 3. O2 have announced that the tix and wristbands will be available to collect at 1730 on the day. Does anyone know whether I will be able to collect them and leave to pass them on to someone else?

Is anyone trying this at London 1 who will be able to give feedback?

By the way, face value is what I am asking so if anyone is interested please PM me.

Which e-mail do i need to use for Glasgow. Is it the one with the subject "Ticket Confirmation".
Don't mean to sound thick or anything.

From U2 forums regarding Ticketmaster and Glasgow:

A Paperless Ticket event is when the Credit Card that was used at the time of booking to purchase tickets is used as the customer's ticket/entry into the event.

You will not receive physical paper tickets for Paperless Ticket events. Instead of going to the venue's Box Office, you simply go direct to the door, present a valid photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport) and swipe the credit card that was used to purchase entry to the event. Your entire party must enter the venue at the same time with the valid credit card and the tickets are non-transferable.

"only the card holder and guests can gain entry into the arena. The card holder must be one of the party attending, and valid photo I.D required. If you are not able to attend, then your guests will not be allowed entry. Ticketmaster will gladly re-sell your tickets, then reimburse you the full price you paid, once we have re-sold your tickets. Please refer to full ticket instructions posted on the official U2 site. We hope you enjoy the show".

I received an email from Ticketmaster regarding the Glasgow show I'm going to on November 7, saying my credit card I used to buy the tickets will be expired before the gig and I need to ring them.
But my credit card clearly has 11/15 stamped on it which means it is good until the end of that month, yes?

Haven't heard from AXS regarding any similar problems regarding the London shows in the same month so assuming a Ticketmaster mistake?
And I get the feeling that even if card was expired you'd still get let in?

Yes, that has been the case for every show where ticketmaster was the ticket seller. The card number is still readable even if the card is expired.

I don't think you can get in with an email on a GA ticket. Your credit card will be scanned on entry.

Clearly says booking confirmation here mind.

Hi there,

Don’t forget – the cardholder has to attend!

Your tickets for this event are paperless, so we won’t be sending any physical tickets out to you.

These tickets are for your own personal use, so you must actually be going to see the show yourself.

You just need to take your photo ID, payment card and booking confirmation – your card will be swiped at the entrance for you to get in. All members of your party must arrive together.

For further information, please visit our paperless FAQs.

We hope you enjoy the show! .

Contacts AXS immediately, they can put a note with your order, and get you tickets which you can pick up at the venue.
You'll need to bring some stuff like ID and CC details.
Make it quick, AXS usually takes a couple of days to respond, and its almost party time!

Thanks so much for being kind enough to reply! Spoke to AXS on the phone, and they said that there is no way around it; my Dad would have to be present with his photo ID in order for entry to be given. Wish I'd bought them on my card, now, but I was stuck in work at the time! Lol. So that's two GAs down the drain! Looking at purchasing a single ticket and going alone, just so that I don't miss the tour!

No problem!
That's shitty of them :( Its failry realistic that you;d find a ticket for any of the Nights. There have been ticket drops all over these days. I got my fingers crossed for you.

For those who want to use someone elses ticket but the card holder wont be attending - take their credit card and chance it. I would be highly surprised if they were really wasting time checking everyones ID.

I have been to one ticketless show at the O2 before and they did not check ID.

The point of credit card entry is that it cuts down on re-sales - which it will do massivley.

In cases where someone gives their credit card to someone else to use it will obviously be friends or family so its not really ticket touting anyway.

So bottom line - chances of ID being checked are slim as long as the cardholder is the same sex.

Bear in midn the peopel doing the scanning iwll be scanning in huge lines of people (it may be best to go at the busy time when most peopel are going in like 30 mins before start time.

Obviously you could get unlucky, but you take your chances.

yeah singyourlife, from what i've read, including mo's post above, there's every chance you could just wing it and get in with just the card, worth a shot!

Thanks guys, really appreciate your help! Worth a shot, as you say. :)

Many of the cities in North America didn't check ID, just scanned the credit card, I'd say its worth a shot taking Dad's card.

According to U2start which is a reliable source:

- CC's are being swiped when you have ticketless entry ticks.
- This is the first time O2 staff are working with these kind of tickets

Well apparently things were not smooth at all... Does anybody know if ID was checked though?

For London 1

What I heard

red zone - photo ID checked not credit card
GA - Credit card swiped - no photo ID check

Red zone - ticket laminate and wristbands in
envelope - did see someone collect and not go
straight in

It was hopeless last night- total incompetence on the part of the O2. They didn't have anything like enough entrances and insisting on 2 wrist bands per person slowed it down even further, not to mention the O2's over the top approach to health and safety- which meant they stopped anyone going in at all every few minutes

I just made it in to see the start of the show- people further back would have missed the first 30 mins or so

So can pick up RZ tix and not have to go straight in??

Think if you have 2 tickets they may make you put the wristbands on for the first ticket and then allow you not to go straight in.

Strange thing about the red zone is how empty it is - think quite a lot of folks use their RZ tickets to get a good GA spot.

I am hoping to pick the ticket up and pass it on to another fan, although the lack of interest has made it look more likely that it will go to waste. Thanks for your info.

O2 was a shambles last night, ive got ga for the 6th london show so lets see if it improves by then

Has anyone been at the front of the GA line last night? Did they actually start scanning creditcards and handing out wristbands before opening the doors, or did that happen as you walked in, one by one?
In Germany they scanned the mobile tickets early in the afternoon and handed out the wristbands which then served as ticket. Seems like they should have done the same thing with creditcards. I hope other shows (including Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin) go more smoothly...

I had 'special access' tickets for last night's show at the O2. I have autism and need to have a carer with me. The carer gets a complimentary ticket so only have to pay for one. The tickets are clearly marked 'DDA' access.

We had to go in through the VIP entrance B.

Part of the deal is you have to take proof of your care needs. Nobody ever asked for this the whole time. The guy at entrance B didn't even know it was a special access ticket.

When tickets for shows go on sale at the O2 there is a special access line. I just called each time and explained my situation and was asked "where would you like to sit?" I was on the front row of block 101. One ticket actually says on it '£0.00 complimentary.'

It's amazing that nobody even asked to see proof of my care needs and it seems that they only think you have care needs if you're in a wheelchair!

Obviously this had no impact on me and I was in through the entrance quickly but it could be open to abuse if they don't ask to see proof of your eligibility.

Germany seems to have easy comparing to London stories. Don't know about Cologne, but in Berlin there were 6 smaller GA lines set up and (as you mentions) tickets were scared at about 5pm already, and wrist bands handed out. Once they started letting us in, all they did was check the bags...no ID, no credit card swiping, nothing.

Cologne was a breeze. I joined the queue around 17.30 on first night, took around 30 mins. to enter.
Night 2 went around 18.15,no queue at all.
No Id checks just scanned my phone.

Well ID was officially not required. So no surprises in that respect. But the scanning of mobile tickets is anything but quick and reliable. So it could have been a mess and was a little bit on the first day. But then they started scanning the GA line very early and handed out wristbands. Once doors opened we could just walk in. They could do the same with credit cards.

I have just spoken to customer services at the O2 as I have GA for Friday but not the credit card needed for entry. They initially asked for the replacement card, but on telling them I didn't even have that they were happy for me to go to the box office with my email confirmation and ID for "paper" wristbands, then join the GA queue with everyone else. No issues over the phone with them so don't panic if you are in a similar situation!

Ok, so you don't have the credit card of the purchase, nor a replacement credit car. But you are the original buyer. Right? Makes sense that they would help you in that situation.
