What's the deal with people asking where Larry is at? It's like they haven't heard him play with drum loops before.

Next morning; drinking some coffee and listening again (a few times); still dig it a lot. Pretty addictive song. I'm critical towards their post 2000 work in general, they'll never reach the transcendency of their 1984-1993 sound, but I give them credit for this one.

Not sure if anyone ever posted the lyrics, but here is my interpretation (I was singing what I now believe to be the wrong lyrics in the chorus bit - I wasn't hearing the 'here' after the 'I'm more than you see').

It's like the room just cleared of smoke
I didn't even want the heart you broke
It's yours to keep, you just might need one

I finally found my real name
I won't be me when you see me again
No, I won't be my father's son.

I'm more than you know
I'm more than you see here
More than you let me be

I'm more than you know
A body and a soul
You don't see me, but you will

I am not invisible.

I don't dream, not as such
I don't even think about you that much
Unless I start to think at all

All those frozen days
And your frozen ways
They melt away, your face like snow.

I'm more than you know
I'm more than you see here
More than you let me be

I'm more than you know
A body and a soul
You don't see me, but you will

I am not invisible
I am here.

There is no them
There is no them
There's only us
There's only us

I need to listen again (yeah, right! Lol) but going off the top of my head I seem to recall a subdued

There's only you
There's only me

at the very end, which variation I thought was kindof interesting. Did you hear that also?

Yeah, the last one is "there's only you, there's only me"

LTTP, but I gotta say, I love Invisible, it sounds fresh and interesting, it feels natural.

It's no 'Where Streets Have No Name' or 'Acrobat', but this is a bloody good song.

I really enjoyed Bono's vocal delivery, it doesn't sound forced, or that he is overreaching.

Great job boys, can't wait for the album.

Original love >>> Invisible.

Invisible is a let down. The chorus goes nowhere and the end is so bland.

I guess the good news is that it is not the lead single for their new album meaning we have got at least one better song to come.

How do you know they won't?

Chances are slim to none. Better? They never reached the highs of The Unforgettable Fire and The Joshua Tree. Achtung Baby was incredible and definitely a reinvention, but is not on the same par as the former two. Their post 2000 work is not that great, some good songs and I like 2/3 of NLOTH, so it's not realistic it's going to happen.

If Invisible is an indication for the next album, I'll be satisfied.

There be TROLLS in here.

At this point, we get it, both of you ozeeko and Aygo... I think you are pretty much outvoted by a ratio of about 50 or 60 to 1, so unless you have anything original to contribute, rather than the same wailings over and over about how it is Joy Division crossed with HTDAAB then everyone will benefit from you both being quite and sulky alone at home.

Dude, completely inappropriate. You’re better than this. Why are people who go against the conventional wisdom here so often berated and labeled as “trolls’” for doing so? Really, somehow, every word being said around here that isn't 100% over the top infused with bubbly enthusiasm for this song is being taken for hate and treated accordingly. WTF?

I’ve enjoyed reading all the reactions, the positives and negatives. And some of the negative ones bring up some pretty compelling points about the song’s weaknesses. For example I find myself agreeing with almost every word Axver has written but still come away with an overall better impression of the song and lyrics than he does. I think ozeeko has also made some pretty cogent points, as have others. And I don't care if their views are outnumbered by the majority 50 to 1 or 100 to 1...they deserve to be heard and I for one want to hear them.

I like the song, but I understand the reasoning of those who don't. And I also get that a lot of people who love it are running high on emotion now that “U2 is back”. But these attempts to beat into submission or drive away anyone who dares disagree is starting to feel like The Return of The Hive. Not cool.

I think its unfair to expect U2 to do something fresh and depart from usual practice when all we seem to do here (after about 20 pages of a new song coming out) is fight about why people are talking negatively, which soon descends into an argument over semantics "I meant this, I meant that", and a crapcake like me coming in and saying something like 'guys won't it be better if we just get along and agree to disagree'.
It happens every single time. If we are true to form, why shouldn't U2 be?
Having said that, I had a good night's sleep and gave the song another listen in the morning. Always apprehensive about judging a U2 song, but I think this has the makings of a heavyweight, or at least it sounds like it comes from a set of heavyweights. I really think this song will touch people live.
Who knows, maybe a week on I will say different. For the moment, happy.

For what it's worth, I don't think I have seen anyone taking as much time and as many posts to state why they like/love the song as some take to explain why this song is a steaming pile of autpilot douche lyrics with a Beautiful Day drum pattern (which is is the most dumbfounding statement I have read on Interference the last week btw, which is saying something).

Also, for what it's worth, another very good song.
Indeed fulfills the promise 100% of what Dangermouse produced U2 can be.

I did clarify later, and it probably was a bit OTT, but it is quite frustrating to see people beating negative opinions into other's by repeating the same opinions until someone changes their mind. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, or say that they can't dislike the song - just trying to point out that those who have these negative opinions don't need to repeat them 50 times until we all agree, because that does seem to be the purpose of it.

 OK...thanks for clarifying. If you're going to be critical of the song, you should state why and do so reasonably. So yeah, I agree that people with negative opinions trying to berate people who like the song is just as bad as the opposite. So to the extent that's going on, it's just just as wrong (I haven't read through every comment in this thread), so I do get your point here.
