Does the 141 minutes include the bonus material? If the original is about 90 minutes and the Director's Cut is 141 minutes, that's a lot of extra footage! Which would be fine with me. Maybe the band wanted to cut it down for their AB release but Guggenheim can do what he wants with the separate release.

Holy cow, if 141 minutes applies to the actual film and not the extras, that makes it almost an hour longer than the version in the box set! I was determined not to get this, but if there's that much extra footage I might have to reconsider. It will be like a totally different movie.

THe point is that the released version on From The Sky Down is shorter.

Yes.

I'm talking about Reggie's comment about "both versions that were screened", AFAIK BBC version is the only one officially screened on TV ?

So...FTSD version without the edits, plus 3 x acoustic performances clips (from the band's time at Hansa Studio making the film earlier this year: 'So Cruel', 'The Fly', 'Love Is Blindness') plus
40 minute edit of the Toronto Q&A press conference = 141 minutes ?

Clarifying for the ladies:...the version released to BBC/Showtime and the one released in the AB Box Sets...sorry for the confusion.

That said...Amazon usually only puts running time for the featured movie/documentary...so...:hyper:

The downside is that we have to wait until January. :waiting:

The up side is that I'll be giving myself a very late Christmas present. If it's released on January 24, I'll probably get it in the mail around Feb. 1 -- a Groundhog Day gift!

It's on a bunch of sites already , i don't think it's any different. While they were filning here in Winnipeg i met them outside the theatre. We spent two days oputside recording their practices, it was really cool! The first time we watched the DVD i almost flipped out because i'm in it shaking hands with the Edge!! (if you see it, i'm the girl in the bright blue sweater) So awesome!

My bluray of FTSD has been dispatched today...so should be here tomorrow.

:applaud::applaud::applaud:

And, got a DVD of 'Man On The Train' too.

yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me

Where I come from, pirates say "yo ho ho...and a bottle of rum".

Interestingly, why are pirates called pirates? Because they "aaaaaaarrrrrggghhh"

FTSD is now playing on the special Uber Edition website. It says "Directors Cut", but it's 85:43 in length. I can't watch it right now though to see if it's different. It's 3 am and I gotta go to bed. :crack:

(I did see the part with all the other bands falling out, and the part with Bono and Edge listening to the DAT 13 session, which people reported were missing from the dvd in the box sets.)

I posted this video two post before, nevermind

I LOVE the solo performance of Bono on that, including the lyrical changes. I'm not a fan of So Cruel, but that performance makes me appreciate the song more.

So they pretty much chopped pieces out and then put them back in and called it the Director's Cut? :tsk: I hope that's not how it will be on the DVD, anyway.

My bluray just dropped through the letterbox from play.com. Only had a quick look and can't see a running time for just the movie. It says 'Directors Cut' on the front cover and has a nice little booklet. I'm over the moon as it has uncompressed DTS HD MASTER AUDIO sound...that is gonna sound awesome on my 7.1 surround system. Coupled with my 59 inch screen...I can't wait to watch it.

I'll report back on the running time later.

Just watched my bluray.

Running time of the main movie is 1:25:49.

Picture quality is outstanding and the DTS HD MASTER AUDIO sound is faultless. It's also a very good mix too. To finally see this in HD was great...and at £12.99 it's a steal. I see play.com have sold out now...hardly surprising given the price.

Hm, so that's 85 minutes. While the documentary on BBC was 90.

What scenes are missing? Sick Puppy?

Sounds like the same version then that is streaming now on the Uber box site. (Same running time, plus it says "Director's Cut") I saw both scenes I mentioned that people reported were missing. Which one do you mean is the Sick Puppy scene.

There are no missing scenes. The BBC broadcast had an extra section at the start with Alan Yentob. This was because the film was broadcast as part of the 'Imagine' BBC Arts series that Alan Yentob presents...so his introduction doesn't count as it isn't part of the film, it was just done for the BBC broadcast.

The film itself begins with the band ready to go onstage at Glasto.

The one where they listen to Sick Puppy and Bono proclaims it's very much not all right.

This is included.

Just doing some rough sums...my Sky+ recording of the BBC broadcast doesn't get to the start of the actual film until 7 minutes in. The movie then finishes at 88 minutes. So that means the film itself on the BBC broadcast was 81 minutes approx. The 'Directors Cut' is nearly 86 minutes...so 5 minutes extra.

I haven't got time to do a comparison...but it seems there must be some extra stuff in there?

Ah so the Glastonbury parts were actually not from the doc? :hmm:

The Glasto parts are from the doc. It's the bit at the start of the BBC broadcast...the Alan Yentob intro (3 mins approx) that isn't part of the doc. As I said though...it seems there are 5 or so extra minutes...but haven't been able to compare.
