What happens in July?

Just had a delicious pumpkin scone. The fall weather seems to have arrived. It all changed yesterday. :sigh: I knew it was coming eventually, but hoped the sun would last a few weeks longer. :)

In the words of the movie preview I saw this past July: "The Dark Knight Rises: The epic conclusion of The Dark Knight trilogy."

In other words: MORE BATMAN GOODNESS! *'s Batman more than any other superhero*

:hyper::hyper::hyper:

I feel dead...*has been staring at Word for too long*

I hate getting things done that are of no use to schoolwork and yet feeling like I'm done for the day because I've accomplished something. Fff. I don't want to draw interiors and landscapes just yet.

....

New chapter? :shifty:

Yep. Angsty, no less.

How have I never noticed how awesome Lemon is as a song? I keep writing it off as silly because of the falsetto but I just noticed again how much depth it has to it. At the moment, after listening to Achtung Baby about 5 times, I think I could compare the emotion in, say, Love Is Blindness, to Lemon...

/has been 90s-ing hard

I'm a music geek  Only just about the stuff I know.

Because you keep writing it off as silly due to the falsetto? :reject:

And, as to that last sentence: YES. Me too.

Falsetto's like looking at a pic of MacPhisto without knowing who he is or what he's supposed to represent. "ah that's silly, kind of entertaining, kind of strange" ...but really some heavy intriguing stuff is trying to get across.

I'm also a bit of a music snob :reject: or, well, in deserving cases. Like that cab driver last night who thought rap was the pinnacle of vocal achievement and thought (when he asked what I listened to and I said 'punk rock') that punk was Nine Inch Nails or somesuch.
Maybe I just don't like him because he was a bit of a creeper and a lot of a misogynist and wouldn't shut up. GAH CAB DRIVERS.

....

How the hell is rap music the pinnacle of vocal achievement??? :crack:

And, it took me a while to get past the falsetto vocals of that song and just listen to what he was singing. Still can't listen to it often, though.

There are people who like rap for valid reasons, but I have yet to really know or understand those reasons...closest I've got is the Beastie Boys, and they were blasting out some good rhythm in the song of theirs I heard. Most rap just makes me kinda angry because I keep thinking, It could be *sung* so much better...for example, "The Rocky Road To Dublin" is a song that's been compared to rap it's sung so fast, but it's good because it's sung, not spoken, and IMO, better than a lot of the shite out on the radio. I did hear about 1 good song that was rap, in the cab. But just 1, and it was because of the instruments.

Sorry people, I just have a thing against music depending more on the machines than the people (some techno bothers me too...) It's a lot less work to do live/needs less skill a lot of the time.

I absolutely love Lemon  I agree though...it's like junk food, musically to me, when I'm not taking the album seriously. Addicting but only by the afternoon when my ears can take the strangeness.

And the Irish boys say, "Oi! She's a right mad one, innit she?' and they will turn to you with their boozy bedroom eyes and say, "Love, ya look gorgeous....I have to kiss you.'

Or that's how it used to work for me....

*dies in fantasy heaven*

Sorry, dear.

I'm just afraid that if I log on with the intent to only pop in and say hi, then ZOOM! Two hours of my life - gone. I am incapable of just "popping by" this site.

Reminds me of arriving in Montreal and me and Jem and Wild all posting on fb and interference for about 2 hours.

I'm back! and alive. I have a new problem with cab drivers who fail at directions.

BUT. I fucking love Joan Jett. *love*

She and the Blackhearts did several more Runaways songs than anticipated, which made me feel all warm and fuzzy, plus they covered an Iggy Pop song, which made my night. Or my week or month. Will provide further details and amusing-ness later when it's not so late (see, my sentence skills are unraveling...)

I just showered so I'm not all gross. Yay. I feel like I've been in GA for days without all the fun (trying to find buses was hell, so my feet hurt...)

But.

I love that feeling when you listen to songs you've heard before but now have heard live and ahhh, they're spectacular and bring back memories...

Glad you had a great time and made it home safely.

Dear People from GQ.

THIS is what Bono's full, thick neck looks like. Pls be not photoshoppin' dis anymoar!

What an ADORABLE pic!!!

Is it the end of April yet??? I'm so done with classes already

I'm having countdown deja vu

Oh no! Don't start talking like that. I'm supposed to be enjoying my job (esp since I can't take my dream job). NO end of school year countdowns young lady :tsk:

I must find this book you speak of, Katie. It sounds good.

But right now I'm reading Blackwood Farm by Anne Rice. :shifty:

U2 @TEOTW is an awesome read!
I'm almost finished with "TEacher Man' by Frank McCourt

Muhahahahaa - there is at my house. Now.

My PSA of the day: Don't type U2 into the search on Etsy. More like REGRETsy.

If you want U2 jewelry, I know someone you could talk to *coughmecough*

Though somebody on Etsy does Edge's 7 shirt from Elevation, made to order, and it's really cool lookin.

I've made 2 for people for halloween costumes

Ugh. This job thing is killing me. It sucks when one person wants something different from the other. :sigh:

I hear ya sistah

Exactly.

To all of that.... though, I do admit to liking some hip-hop/rap. Okay, just one artist, and that's cuz he sings a little too. :shifty:

Eeeeedge? That's my limit of rap appreciation.

U2 - Numb - (HD) - YouTube

I do admit, I don't mind that his shirt gets cut away. Also, the fact that this song is born from angst and has a legit excuse to be rap makes it fine to me.

Okay, I like the other solution we came up with better. Larry comes to my hometown and takes pity on me. He pays for me to start my own theatre company... and he decided to become an actor... who needs LOTS of private coaching... :shifty:

Zooey...you make jewelry? That's awesome. (I used to but don't have money for supplies anymore or any of my stuff with me)

And I'm definitely not ever going to go to the middle of Pennsylvania again and try to get a cab. The tradeoff for being able to get a ride home was it was expensive as fuck, and the cab drivers pissed me off a lot...

Nom nom nom.

On that note. Larry could just come here and drive me to concerts on his bike

Look up Drama Queen Jewelry on fb

I love Frank McCourt! He is such a good writer!

Alisaura just came up with a solution to my job woes.
We all know how hawt Mr.Z is... she suggests he strip for money! Problem solved!

:shifty: Oh, god I forgot how hot he looks in this video.

As much as I love Edge, and as much I love him singing/"rapping" this, no. I like Nelly. :reject:

Also, that video makes me giggle. CONSTANTLY. I have no idea how he was able to keep a straight face! (You can tell he almost cracked up a few times, thought)

Zooey, If you make more of the ones that look sort of like they have glass over them, with the metal loops, I might want to get one of those...they're pretty.

@Tara—no idea who Nelly is. Hurr. Yay me and my lack of rap knowledge.

Numb makes me laugh too.
