William Shatner to Cover U2 on New Album (SRSLY)
From the you-can’t-make-this-up department:

William Shatner is going to cover U2′s “In A Little While” on his next album.

Yes, that William Shatner … star of Priceline commercials, Star Trek, TJ Hooker and many more roles. He even announced it on his official website.

The album is called Searching for Major Tom and a lot of the songs he’s singing have space-related theme — “Space Oddity,” “Rocket Man” and more. You’ll look at the track list and think he was inspired by seeing a U2 360 show at some point, actually.

There’s no exact release date — the announcement just says later in 2011.

Thanks atu2

His cover of Common People is amazing (although the presence of Joe Jackson and Ben Folds help quite a bit).

So no, this isn't a measure of anything. Shatner (or whoever picks these things for him) has decent taste in music.

He probably got the idea because U2 suggested to mass audiences that the song was about space with the 360 video segments,.

As the years go by one can see a parallel in how Boner and Bill Shatt have aged in a similar way. Both are still fucking cool though.

from u2gigs.com

...to make room for North Star and Zooropa, Beautiful Day slotted into the position normally held by In A Little While - a song whose performance has been controversial and not particularly well-received amongst the online fanbase, but nonetheless it has been a setlist staple lately. The last time it missed a show was on 14th October 2009.

ahem...

Why is it shocking that U2gigs is reporting that IALW was not well-received? It's not like it's U2.com saying that.
