I would have to agree with most of that, although Breathe is a good song, it wouldn't pack as much as a punch as Boots would, straight swap perhaps? And the encore is still pretty short, I agree with that.

Although the negatives outweigh the positives it seems.

Outweigh? I intentionally wrote five positives and five negatives! Though if I'm honest, I do think this is one of U2's lesser tours and that there is considerable room for improvement.

I think the opening four would be ideal if it had this order:
1. No Line On The Horizon
2. Get On Your Boots
3. Breathe
4. Magnificent

Silly me! I miscounted the dot points on negative.

But one mustn't worry, for this is only the first leg. I'm sure the tour improves as the legs go on? Would you think so?

My order would have to be:

1. Get On Your Boots
2. No Line
3. Breathe

I'd like Miami 5 times as much if the chorus was "Miami, Miami", I just can't resist the urge to punch Bono when listening to it

I can cope with it. It's a peculiar little song though, being me I like it because of that.

Miami was great live. Shit in studio, but it worked very well on Popmart and had a killer segue into Bullet.

Also, this is a silly question to ask Vlad due to his dial-up, so ... John/lurkers, have you by any chance watched many of the 360 videos that Matt's filmed for U2gigs? I need an outside opinion for something ...

I like that, I think the best would be

(Entrance music, Kingdom ---> Fez)

Then those four songs, with Being Born being played in the set at a later point

I haven't watched many but I'm not doing much right now if you need any help with anything related

Past experience suggests to me that late first leg and early second leg tend to be the best. I'd certainly say that was true for Vertigo - from Chicago IV to Dublin III, it slayed.

That order works too. I just like the idea of NLOTH opening, and having Breathe's drum intro right after the "let me in the sound" bit where Larry also gets to show off.

It definitely kicked ass in Popmart.

And yes, I've watched only a few of Matt's videos and I shall comment that it is pure quality stuff. Still, because of the reasons you mentioned above it took me a long, long while to load. It was worth it, no doubt about it.

I don't think any fan who filmed the concerts with his/her camera could come close to what Matt did.

No Line is quite the underrated song on the 360 tour, wouldn't you agree?

I don't really think of Fez-Being Born separately ... I reckon it would kill as an encore opener.

I'm just looking for one of Matt's best videos of an NLOTH song live, and since I have shit Intarwebz here, I haven't watched many of them. I want to post this article soon though, so I think I'll just grab a random video of the title track.

One of my wishes would be for Fez - Being Born to pop up sometime in the future, along with Please.

yeah I generally think of them as the same song too, I just love the thought of Fez opening but can't imagine Being Born kicking off a concert well

Most of his videos are great, I doubt you could pick a bad one

Oh hell yes. Besides Crazy, NLOTH is the song I enjoyed most. My ranking of the NLOTH songs live:

Very fine live listening
1. Crazy
2. NLOTH

Fine live listening
3. Unknown Caller
4. Boots
5. Magnificent

Sort of fine live listening
6. Moment Of Surrender

Meh live listening
7. Breathe

Oh man, Matt's videos have been amazing. His camera is mindblowingly good. Shows up those mobile phone clips.

I would wonder how much it costs, likely to be some sort of expensive bugger. Forget Hamish Hamilton, maybe he can direct the next U2 Tour DVD? :D

I didn't even ask about the cost - and he has a couple of them too! What also impresses me is the stability of his shots, and the fact he's quite tall helps in getting good angles.

I keep telling Matt he needs to make some bootleg DVDs out of his best footage.

The audio is what impresses me the most out of everything

To be honest, he should. It's some quality stuff. No wonder he gets tonnes of views!

I'm not even sure if I like the song my band are currently recording, all I can think of it as is our sell out song  or :sigh: not sure which

Yeah, you could easily make audio boots out of his stuff. It just leaves everything else for dead.

Imagine what this means for the future though. The technology Matt's using will come down in price - wait until your average person on the street can make footage like this.

I'm hoping I can at least get him to do a DVD of the Zagreb show where he filmed every song apart from Pride (he had a malfunction during Pride, otherwise he would've filmed it too). If he can find somebody else who can provide footage of Pride and release the full show, it'd be excellent.

If the word 'baby' appears in the lyrics, it's a sell-out alright.

It's a song based around a random bass thing I recorded on my laptop, designed to be just pointlessly fast impossible bass. But the fact that my guitarist is obsessed with trying to get our songs into Rock Band (The video game) means we're turning our piece of bass wankery into a full song. The fact that I'm writing a song for the purpose of it being in a video game seems like such a sell out move...then again if we make any money from this I'll probably not care either way, if the song turns out to suck then we can just pretend it never happened

Is it artificially sped up? It may be a Dragonforce rip-off! :D

Nah, you're alright.

I want to hear this song once you're done.

It shall be quite the epic wankery, it's a punk song in length, but a prog song in complexity

I mean so far it's Intro, verse, chorus, random bass wankery solo, verse chorus, guitar solo, bridge, verse, chorus

With a verse length of roughly 14 seconds and a chorus of 10 seconds, I have no idea where there'll be time for lyrics but who cares this promises to be epic...either in the win or fail sense

I haven't heard my friend's guitar solo yet but it promises to be roughly 17 seconds of guitar wankery

Axver, 07-08-09 Milan is probably the best NLOTH clip I've seen from Matt. The band is placed in front of glowing yellow smoke and Bono is passionate. Plus, it's filmed in HD.

EDIT: NLOTH, the song I mean. The best clip he has put online is 07-07-09 Magnificent. Bono even does some excellent opera, and he's really into the song. Fantastic clip!

This promises to be awesome. I'll buy as many copies of the single as you can pack into the mail in 10-14 seconds.
