Attention 90s Fans_REAL ACTION 360_Poll and Petition

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
No, it's because they always talk about changing their music to reach a new audience. It was the reasoning behind Achtung, Zooropa, Pop, Leave Behind, Atomic Bomb. Not that it leads to bad music (4 classics) but it shows that they are more concerned with those who don't like them that those that do. It works for them, though.

Well sure they want to reach a new audience, but you're not giving their fanbase enough credit. you think they just wanted U2 to re-create Boy for 13 albums? The best bands evolve, it has nothing to do with not caring about your fans. When bands make albums that sound the same over and over, I usually lose interest.

So selfishness and illogical are good things? Does your middle initial happen to be W?

First of all, in what way is it selfish to get a petition going? What "self" is being satisfied by getting a (potentially) large group of people to express an opinion and attempt to interact with the band?

And what is this "illiogical" you speak of? If English isn't your first language, I apologize. But, supposing you meant to follow up that word with "actions", how do you know it is illogical? It could have an effect. It could show them that (some) fans want more rotation, and that some fans really love the 90s work that they seem to not like much, or are scared of playing.

It's not that I don't give the fan base enough credit, it's the band that doesn't. They've been playing it safe since 2000 because they don't want to push them away like in the 90s (only seven milli of Pop sold? some stadiums didn't sell out because people didn't get or like your travelling art rock gallery? FAILURE!!!). Every U2 fan I knew stopped liking the band after Leave Behind or Bomb because it was so safe (I love Leave behind). They got a lot of new fans, but they also lost a lot of old ones too.

I still don't see what's so bad about trying to interact with and change the behaviour of a corporation. At the very least it is fun.

Now, now. U2 scared? These are the guys who dressed in drag, rode around in a forty foot mirrorball lemon, hung Trabants as stagelights, called the White House during shows, dressed as the Vilage People, used a massive claw for a stage piece, traversed downtown Manhattan on a flatbed, and remixed their newest single into a trance, industrial techno dance track LIVE.

Bono used eyeliner, platform shoes, full white makeup, suits of lights, and climbed scaffolding to heights of 50'+. Edge grew a pornstache. Adam had a fro, a mohawk slick back, and sported a breathing mask during shows.

And Larry...Larry grew a MULLET IN 2005! Now that takes guts!

It's not about them fearing their own work. They are just trying to play the songs appropriate for the tour.

And how can we complain when they've pulled out Unforgettable Fire, Electrical Storm, and Ultraviolet? We have cried for these songs for years!

I explained earlier, but the whole idea of dividing U2 fans intro groups and then calling for some of the most obscure songs that only a handful would want to hear in a stadium setting to be presented to the band is nothing but selfishness.

"Damnitt Bono we don't care if you put everyone asleep I have 20 signatures of people that want to hear Blue Room in a stadium setting."

Are you serious? First of all you have no plan as to how you are going to present it. Secondly, you're asking for remixes and songs that would never fit in this type of setting. This doesn't tell the band there are fans of the 90's or that some want rotation, it tells them they have some fanatics. They know that. Now if you came up with an actual planned out attack of how you were going to pursue the band into showing them you would like to hear the likes of MOFO, Gone, Hold Me, The Fly, etc you'd be playing on the side of logic.

But you lack both. You have no plan, and you don't have reasonable songs...

They're just going to laugh at you...

I guess this is for real

Ask yourself, if not me who? Ask yourself, if not now when?

We look forward to working with you.

What a waste of time...I love the urgency of how ^ is worded...I for one am content with the setlists as they have been. Would I like to see more songs added? Sure, but I know how U2 setlists have been over the years- you've got the core group of songs every night with a few additions here and there....

I thought we were talking about setlists? If so have you seen the setlist of PopMart? How much change and not playing it safe did you see?
7. Until The End Of The World
8. New Year's Day
9. Pride (in The Name Of Love)
10. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
11. All I Want Is You
12. Desire
13. Staring At The Sun
14 Sunday Bloody Sunday
15. Bullet In The Sky

but they had a giant lemon!!!
and a theme!! (how this bulk of songs fits the theme no one knows though)

for the record I loved POPMart more than ZOO TV
but a huge part of that set is every way (or more) as conservative as what they're playing now

I don't think there are enough Setlist threads. I think I will create 700 more of them. Because

I don't see why it has to be 90s songs that have never been played on a regular basis in the past.

MW and Until the end of the world are coming up occasionally on 360 and with the exception of MW getting cut a little short and Larry mailing it in a bit, they are sounding great. Both have been played heavily in the past.

What would be wrong with hold me.....kill me, last night on earth, discotheque, MOFO or Gone? They have all been past regulars. Rotate them in a bit and they'll be great.

The rarities/hardly ever played 90s tunes we need are, in order of importance:
1.)HOLY JOE: This would just kick the shit out of a stadium live. How good would it sound leading into full band desire or EBTTRT???
2.)Dirty Day
3.)Lemon
4.)Daddy's Gonna pay
5.)Zooropa
