We already know based on the seat locations reported on this forum that people have purchased tickets for obstructed-view seats. My own cousin purchased Rose Bowl tickets for he and his wife that are severely obstructed by a supporting truss on Adam's side.
No, we don't know this. Stop acting as if you do, that's my whole point. First of all you do not know the exact placement of the legs, so you do not know if your cousin's seats are obstructed yet. And secondly you do not know if they undersold those sections in order to accomadate this factor. Tell your cousin to take pics and then post them...

And don't be telling people when they can and can't post.
I'm not saying you can't, just trying to save you from looking so whiny all the time.

Doesn't it stand to reason that some seats will have an obstructed view to some degree? I don't see how anyone can think otherwise. Just look at the design.

What do you thk are those "X" things? And how tall they can be? Can they obstruct the view?

Guys all the indications are that the box trusses will be removed before the shows. Wait until the tour starts before jumping to conclusions!

light towers. judging by the grey areas on the map they haven't sold seats behind them.

yup, i would say as well. not really problem for Pasadena, but Milano with the stage built against the main stand makes few the most expensive sectors quite questionable....

but yeah, hopefully its gonna be ok ...

If they were sold, this is what we don't know...

Let's look at the Rose Bowl layout.

They obviously took into account the lighting towers given the grayed out seats behind. If the drawing is perfectly to scale and they are able to locate it exactly like the drawing the two back legs won't matter for aisles line up with the legs. Now the only two sections that will have an issue are those right at the base of the front two legs. Now if those sections were purposely undersold, or there are other seats purposely set aside for those ticket holders then I see no problem. If they weren't taken into consideration I'll be the first to bash U2 along with you guys.

I hope he is able to con someone into buying his tickets.

Given the width of the trusses, some of the seats are going to be atrociously bad. And, like I said before, we know from seat locations reported here that some people are going to be staring straight at one of those things.

YAWN!

"Con" someone into buying his tickets? Good grief. I think it's your tone and attitude that people are growing tired of.

WE DON'T KNOW FOR CERTAIN WHAT THE EXACT SIGHTLINES FOR THE SHOW WILL BE!

We don't even know if the band is going to be set up in the EXACT center of the stage. We DO KNOW that most of the band won't stay put for the show. Hell, even Larry may have a drum set somewhere else at some point in the show.

Are sightlines a concern? Sure.
But, ease off on the hyperbole--"atrociously bad"--WTF?

This can be summarized with one sentiment:

The band released some 3D imagery and even the stadium plans prior to any tickets going on sale. Whomever purchased any ticket to any show had to know there was a chance of his view being blocked/skewed/partially blocked etc.

IT WAS YOUR CHOICE TO BUY A TICKET WITH THIS KNOWLEDGE.

Otherwise you did not have to buy a ticket and someone else could have attended these shows that will end up being hard to get in to.

I am not saying everyone should be thankful for getting into the building, but to purchase a ticket and then complain about the POSSIBILITY of part or all of your view being blocked is ludicrous.

Just don't go if you are so worried.

Furthermore, I bet I could explain how someone's view can be blocked no matter where you are in the stadium.

GA: you could be in the second row to the stage and be stuck behind someone really tall.

GA: You could have to go to the bathroom and then end up at the back o fhte stadium

UPPER TIER: You could be above the claw and not be able to see

LOWER TIER: You could be behind the stage and the band might not turn around all night.

LOWER TIER: You could be right next to the stage and want to sit the whole show while the person in front of you stands.

I could go on, but the main point is that if you try, you could find a problem with almost any seat or spot in the stadium. If you are going to go on about obstructed views and were worried prior to purchaing tickets, you could have purchased a ticket in a different location.

Actually, I have the perfect solution.

Buy three tickets to each show: a GA, a lower tier, and an upper tier. When you get to the show, go to each spot and see where you have a better view.

Can we please move on and go back to obsessing about the stage design - I really think after seeing the scale of the truss the views will actually be better than I first thought. The further away from the truss, the better the view will be as its scale minimizes.

Be happy you are going to the show - if your view is obstructed, move to somewhere else in the stadium and stand there - no big deal.

all u2 shows i have been to they have a table set up on the floor, with loads of tickets to move people that end up with a completely obstructed view, or other unforeseen problems. they plan for this.

i went to a popmart show, and because of the alamodome they had less seats in my row that originally thought. there was no seat number, they sent me to the table. i was moved from the 35th row to front row. they take care of people who get stuck in a unforeseen bad situation.

to complain about it before hand, when it all actuality it may end up being a great seat or they may even get upgraded is a little silly.

The box trusses being discussed are the actual legs of the claw - not the support structure used in construction (note how each leg consists of 4 arched columns with crossbeams between them for strengthening).

Anyhoo... I'm with ouizy - lets get back to obsessing about the design and the next set of photos that should be here any time now. Almost 48 hours since the last set... the legs might be finished now for all we know. I'm anxious to see the material that goes over this thing... the stage underneath... the screen... we've got much to look forward to here. And would it be too much to ask someone to sneak in with a video cam when they start doing light & screen tests??

Man. That's the story of my life. :(

I misread this the first time and thought you said there's always a table on the floor that blocks people's views - that's what happened to me on ZooTV! We were seated directly across from the stage in the first row of stadium seats, and there was a merchandise stand on the field blocking our view. :rage:

But now that I understand what you're saying, I don't know that I've ever seen a table on the floor where they help people find new seats when there's a problem.

i really hope that they're no one tall standing in front of me, and i really wish that U2 and Ticketmaster would have warned me that this could happen. hopefully i can con someone into buying my ticket.

holy crap! cool thing is, even if you were standing like 3/4 back, it's still a really good spot.

Holy Guacamole! The top tiers really will have a good unobstructed view. The Barca stadium is quite high too, most likely higher than a lot of the stadiums they will play in, so the top of the stage could be even higher in some stadia!!

i went to a popmart show, and [...] i was moved from the 35th row to front row. they take care of people who get stuck in a unforeseen bad situation.

ditto here. popmart toronto, 100% blocked by the soundboard booth, so they moved me to front row of the B-stage.

that damn arch was clearly blocking two views of the video wall to boot

Let's just sit tight, wait for new images from Barcelona and wait for someone to crack and divulge all the info there is on the Hoberman screen they have planned.

I hope it's a new Hoberman invention they use.

I'm not sure what I'm more boggled by - the size of the claw/erection/metal stuff, or the sheer size of the stadium.

Next to the seats of the stadium in that picture, it doesn't look that big, but then looking at the trucks on the ground .... holy crap.

they must have a carnival consultant on hand to help optimize the construction build time

i absolutely have not doubt the last person in the GA line will still have one of the best concert experiences ever

I wonder what the Muse and Snow Patrol forums are saying about all this
