I got on "Boots" this morning! (Single review)

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

A work-related perk! I work at a radio station and the Universal rep came by today. They know I play in a U2 tribute band so they were cool with me sitting in and hearing it. She took the CD with her so no, I don't have an MP3! (I somehow resisted conking her on the head so I could steal it.)

I'm like....jealous of you. I hate you, but in that respectful way. I WANT TO HEAR IT!! :D

Perhaps he can play it, record it somehow, and then upload it for all of us to hear. Perhaps :shifty:

ETA: Nevermind, just saw his post :sigh:

Mmmmm I like that this is the second review stating that it's not a "back to basics" a la Vertigo/Beautiful Day. I'm also really looking forward to that breakdown/bridge part.

I'm starting a U2 tribute band, TODAY.

Who wants to join?

Thank you so much man.

Any comment on the lyrics? Do they avoid cheese/bono-ism? Does the song mean anything?

So skott - did the Universal Rep say when your station can officially play the new song? Is it indeed 1/19?

Good for you! I am still looking forward to the first radio airing. There's nothing like pressing the earphones into your ears and cry because a new U2 song is going on the radio :hyper::love::hyper:

I'm joining, we're setting up a radio station too right?

I'm sure if we can do it within the next week we'll hear the song before everyone else here

We will be known as Sexy Boots, and our radio station will be called GOYB 106.1.

The lyrics struck me as less forced than the last couple albums. More conversational and a little impressionistic at times. I didn't hear any reference to "kneeling" or "soul" that jumped out at me, so that should relieve a lot of you!
