Lidge hasn't been lights out his past few outings, but he still gets it done....15 years and we get another October win!

Bad move by Manuel to pull Hamels for the very shaky (as of late) Lidge, considering Hamels' pitch count was only a couple over 100 and he was cruising along. Almost cost them.

Still, first playoff win in 15 years, and first playoff win in my memory!

Headache should have been in the car with me on my afternoon commute home today so he could have enjoyed the Phils/Brewers game on ESPN radio with his dream announcer pair...Michael Kay and Steve Phillips.
Painful.

Some of the gems from these mental giants:
Bottom of 2nd inning after Howard walks, Burrell up, Kay's call (paraphrasing):
There's one right up the middle, picked up by the shortstop, he steps on 2nd and throws to first for the 6-6-3 double play"
Phillips followed with his expert analysis, "the ball was hit perfectly for Hardy to get the 6 unassisted double play"
Next time Burrell came up, Kay mentioned again that he had hit into a 6-6-3 double play his first time up.

And a couple of times Kay told us we were "watching the National League Division Series on ESPN Radio".

Ugh

With the most home field wins in the NL (teamwise and his own starts), Dempster should have had a lot more confidence and gone after these guys.

Although I will say the strike zone has appeared to be a little erratic, at least in the first few innings.

peer pressure:

Phillies over Brewers in 4
Cubs over Dodgers in 5

Red Sox over Angels in 4
White Sox over the Rays in 3 (Magic momentum)

Cubs over Phillies in 6
Red Sox over White Sox in 4 (and the white sox go flat)

Cubs over Red Sox in 7 (why not).

Also, was I seeing things or did the faggoty Cubs actually hold a rally yesterday? For clinching a playoff spot? Who the FUCK holds a rally for just making the playoffs? That shit is ridiculous and pathetic. And it's bad karma. Save the street party for when you win 11 more games, you fucks. Mark me down for the Cubs getting knocked off by the Dodgers.

Odd....I remember being in Boston the day after the last regular season game last year. Schmeg and I toured Fenway and then headed towards Faneuil Hall before we headed to the airport. She was bummed because we were going to miss the rally.

Which "Faggoty" team was holding a rally in Boston? Was it the Super Chargers? NO. It was the Red Sox. Yes, Hewson's "faggoty" Red Sox. :sexywink:

And how did they finish last year?

.......and from the rally:

If You Host It, They Will Come: Sox Rally Monday

Congratulations, Sox fans! You made it through approximately three minutes of the Red Sox Rally Monday festivities at City Hall Plaza before the first chants of "Yankees Suck" filled the air. New record! Well done!

A few thousand fans descended upon the plaza early Monday afternoon to cheer on their hometown baseball team (and decry the arch rivals) for the Boston version of the shindigs going on across the country. Rally Monday was a tradition begun by Major League Baseball back in 2004 - good luck charm, perhaps? - and one that has allowed Sox fans a chance to gather and celebrate the upcoming postseason three times in four years. Not bad, not bad.

Bostonist was on the scene for the '04 (fabulous) and '05 (lame) rallies at Fenway Park and was intrigued by the chance to see what the Sox had up their sleeves with this year's venue relocation. As it turns out, the team provided the richest rally yet, one full of spunk (Jacoby Ellsbury, Clay Buchholz, Kyle Snyder, Mike Timlin, and Javier Lopez, who stole the hot-ballplayer spotlight from Young Jacoby and should really call Bostonist), sass (Papelbon!), and nods to traditions both new and old (Dropkick Murphys and Joe Castiglione!). It was a feisty gathering that succeeded in firing up folks for the kickoff to the postseason on Wednesday evening.

Sure, the acoustics weren't top-notch. Yes, it's always lame to have to pause for commercial breaks. And we were as surprised as anyone to have Peter Tork (yes, Peter from The Monkees - who knew he was a Sox fan?) there to perform "Daydream Believer" and "I'm a Believer." But the fans came out ready to party, with facepaint, signs, and gear galore - and the organization provided a great event (special note: huge kudos to the people who put together the top-notch video montages, particularly the '04 recap). As Terry Francona noted during his address, no one had to do much recruiting to get the Sox faithful to stop by City Hall.

Bostonist took a slew of photos, all of which are available by clicking here. Included? The players, the musicians, the fans and the guy every newspaper will probably have displayed in print or in the online editions (he's already featured at Boston.com).

P.S. Note to Joe Dwinell: the Quincy woman asked Javier to marry her, not Jacoby. Just sayin'.

"Faggoty" Cinco-ocho? :D

Read the bold...GAF is just jealous the White Sox had to play two playoff games before getting into the playoffs. ;)

This is why I love White Sox fans. Such class.

Oh, and did the Cubs realize they had a game tonight?
