Dave Bookman (DJ): Now, I remember going to a show there I guess it was around the 1980's when a little record called "War" came out.
It was a little band you had something to do with called U2, and Bono climbed up the scaffolding to do his dance and took a white flag and a couple of things.
That was a long time ago, he ain't climbing scaffolding these days, he's got much bigger things on his mind.
If you'd be ever so gracious, you updated us last time. You had Morocco on your mind back in March, where are we at with the latest U2 project?
Lanois: OK, A week today... I'm gonna be in New York City mixing half of the U2 record over the course of two weeks. So that's...a good start for a finish.
DJ: Now what came up, Bon - - Edge was in town a couple of weeks ago for the Film Festival. Have you seen "It Might Get Loud" the guitar documentary with him?
Lanois: No, I haven't seen it but I was in Dublin when they were doing some of that filming and I have every reason to think that it should be great because you know, the three lead actors are pretty great.
DJ: (Laughs) Yeah, that's for sure. And he mentioned at that time that the band had had an epiphany or an inspirational, creative breakthrough.
Is it gonna be more writing or are you gonna mix part of it, are they actually gonna try and do some more material?
Lanois: Well, the first half is gonna be mixed over the course of two weeks as I said but you never know with those guys it's always sort of a last minute idea brewing.
We always welcome those last-minute ideas because in the heat of the moment you never know what's gonna come in. It might be something special.
