there were people selling tickets at both Soldier Field shows.

Sell them to a fan looking, not a scalper. It's pretty easy to tell the difference I think.

I've driven 9 hours to a show without a ticket.

In Chicago I saw a few people wearing signs that said "need a ticket?" or "Chicago 1 GA".
