Who Would Get For A U2 Cover Album?

I just got the AWESOME soundtrack for 'I Am Sam,' which is comprised of different musicians doing Beatles covers. This got me to thinking: suppose somebody makes a movie one day and decides to fill it with U2 cover songs. What musicians do you think would be best suited to perform some of U2's biggest hits?

Coldplay: Stay

Elton John: Running to Stand Still

Pearl Jam: Exit

Barenaked Ladies: Stuck in a Moment That You Can't Get Out Of

Jamiroquai: Mysterious Ways

The Voices of Freedom (if they're still around): I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

Rage Against The Machine (if de la Rocha was still in the group): Bullet the Blue Sky

Rage Against The Machine (with Chris Cornell): Wire

Dave Matthews Band: Angel of Harlem

Sarah McLachlan: All I Want Is You

Wyclef Jean: The Playboy Mansion

"You gotta love living, baby, 'cause dyin's a pain in the ass."-- Frank Sinatra

Adam: Look guys, I got a Springfield spoon for my spoon collection.
Edge: Oh boy, here we go...
Bono: Wow, how many is that now Adam?
Adam: Nine. If I didn't have my spoons, I'd go insane.
Bono: Can I see it?
*adam gives bono the spoon, bono throws it away*
Adam: My spoon!

YES!! The "I am Sam" soundtrack is absolutely wicked. Its so amazing. Basically, the only good thing about this film.

Alicia Keys: ONE
Bruce Springsteen: ANGEL OF HARLEM
Johnny Cash: Numb or Mysterious Ways

Depeche Mode - Lemon
Pearl Jam - Sunday Bloody Sunday
Oasis - Last Night on Earth
Primal Scream - MoFo
Radiohead - Dadddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car
Air - Zooropa
The Smashing Pumpkins (if they were still around) - Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
Coldplay - In God's Country
Travis - Desire
R.E.M. - One
Pete Yorn - Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Dave Matthew's Band - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Metallica - The Fly
New Order - Do You Feel Loved
Moby - Even Better Than the Real Thing
Tool - Dirty Day
Beck - The Playboy Mansion
Weezer - I Will Follow
Spiritualized - Bad
The Cure - Wake Up Dead Man

Well that's about all I can think of. I do think that U2's 90's material, especially Zooropa is more open to interpretation than their 80's stuff.

Collective Soul - I Will Follow

They already play a rocking version live, I would like to hear a studio version from them of it.

U2 TRIBUTE ALBUM

1. Elastica - I Will Follow
(I can hear them all over this one now)
2. Led Zeppelin - Discotheque
(hehe)
3. The Clash - Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
(they'd change this song completely and we'll all scream 'butchering!')
4. The Stone Roses - Rejoice
(this may work actually, but I believe the Roses don't like U2 that much)
5. Run-D.M.C. - Elevation
(hit or miss, but I think might be fun)
6. Neil Finn/Crowded House - With or Without You
(if this actually gets in I'll buy it for this track. It'll probably be all acoustic, which is cool)
7. Pearl Jam - Desire
(this should be fun)
8. Duran Duran - Trip Through Your Wires
(ditto)
9. Pet Shop Boys - Bullet the Blue Sky
(c'mon, their cover of Streets was awesome, they'd have some fun with this)
10. Dwight Yoakam - Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me
(I always thought this could work into a country-style song. Still, either way, it'll be fun)
11. Guns N' Roses - 11 O'Clock Tick Tock
(Axl going 'I can hear the children cryyyying' - worth the price of admission)
12. New Order - The Fly
(they'd do some imaginative work with this)

didn't P.O.D. do a cover of Bullet the Blue Sky? i think they did... on their second album.... a friend of mine played it for me..... it might have been how Rage Against the Machine would have covered that song...
