The CNN Worldbeat Global Album chart has just been updated (Sept 8 edition). ATYCLB moves up to 11 from 13. They have passed Celebrity...which has been on the chart for 5 weeks now. It peaked at 9 and is now falling, coming in at 12 this week. U2's album has been out for 44 or 45 weeks now, and has been on this chart for a total of 28 weeks.

Rolling Stone might want to talk to the editors/writers at GQ, since they got it right, and their not even focused on the music industry. In fact, any idiot could take a look at WORLDWIDE popularity, sales, tours, RELEVANCE, etc., and easily see that U2 is the biggest band on the planet. U.S. sales and TRL don't dictate worldwide opinion. What was Rolling Stone even thinking? What a joke.

By the way, thanks to Sting, Womanfish, DoctorWho, and all the others who keep us updated with chart data. It's fun to watch. Our detractors don't understand that, but we do. Please keep it coming!!!

Here is a look at week 44/45 for ATYCLB WorldWide!

USA #104
Canada #54
Australia #46
Netherlands #25
Italy #20
France #28
United Kingdom #34
Ireland #1
Spain #41
Germany #71
Austria #24
Switzerland #29
Denmark #30
Belgium #24
World #11

I think the world charts might be a week behind. U2 has a lot of drops around the world this week but on the world chart at CNN, they went up two spots. WORLDWIDE SALES FOR ATYCLB NOW STAND AT 9,850,000! This is of course an estimate based on known worldwide sales total back in mid-May, then estimating Global sales each week since then based on chart positions in countries around the globe. It may be off, plus or minus 300,000 , but I think its accurate. ATYCLB is only two weeks away from hitting 10,000,000 in sales!

I have some more chart info. On the ADULT TOP 40 chart, STUCK..... moves up from #27 to #25! STUCK.... enters the MODERN ROCK CHART at #38! No sign of STUCK.... on the MTV or VH1 video play charts yet.

I noticed that Stuck was number 17 on the VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown, Sting. That was on Sunday, Sept 9. Just thought you would want to know

Hello,

For those who are interested, here are the chart positions for U2 in the Netherlands. The numbers are courtesy of http://web.planet.nl/music/charts/megatop100/
In week 45 ATYCLB drops 4 places to #29.
The total run so far is:
1-1-1-1-1-3-3-3-6-7
6-5-7-6-6-6-5-6-1-2
8-12-16-25-30-36-38-40-45-48
49-43-39-39-45-42-36-27-15-7
6-6-14-25-29
(all information prior to week 40 with many thanks to Flying Padre Jr.)

The Best Of 1980-1990 also continues to fall as it drops to #64 in its 94th week (no this isn't the album with the longest chart run as Buena Vista Social Club is on the charts for 210 weeks).
The positions for the last 6 weeks are:
57-43-9-10
22-31-48-64
(sorry, don't have data for the other 86 weeks).

On the singles front Elevation holds its position at #17 in its 10th week.
Elevation's run on the charts is now:
11-7-13-17-1-2-3-11-17-17

with the help of past week VMAs performance, U2 is back in the top 100, in spite of the attack to the U.S. this week.

Chart position: 78 (104 last week)

i hope that doctor who post this week sales soon.

And also, its good to see that, even when NSYNC win a lot of awards, they drop in the charts to 12 (from 9 last week) and they dont boost in sales this week, like U2 did.

Actually, this is a bit incorrect. N'Sync's album dropped to #12 (out of the Top 10) LAST week. This week, most likely thanks to the awards, it ROSE to #9.

U2's album sold 13,273 copies at position #104 last week. Billboard reported that the album had a 19% increase in sales, meaning that 15,795 copies were sold. However, this seems rather low, as last week, the #78 album sold 18,586 copies. With only 15,795 albums sold, ATYCLB should have charted around #90.

Some of you may think that the WTC bombings may have deflated sales. This could be true, but it will NOT have an effect on this week's charts. Rather, it may have an effect on NEXT week's charts. This is because SoundScan runs Monday through Sunday. Therefore, I am not quite convinced that ATYCLB saw such a small sales increase despite the huge chart jump. I'm more prone to trust last week's SoundScan data and estimate sales at 18,000-19,000 copies. This will make total sales 2,820,000 copies. If you want to stick with Billboard's number, then sales are estimated as 16,000 copies for this week, giving a total of 2,817,000 copies total.

Regardless, as I thought would happen, ATYCLB did indeed reappear in the Top 100. U2 just have too many things going on for the album not to pop back in the Top 100 (especially considering it was floating just outside the Top 100 for the past few weeks). Hopefully, it will be able to linger in the Top 100 now for a while - at least until the tour starts (assuming the tour does resume in the U.S.).

In other U2 news, the VMA performance also helped U2's "Best Of" as it sky-rockets from #17 to #5 on the Catalog charts. This is the highest position the album has ever had on this chart, surpassing the #6 rank it achieved a few weeks ago. This puts sales at approximately 11-12,000 copies for the week.

German charts:

Elevation dropped out of the Top 100 after spending 9 weeks on the charts. Elevation's run on Germany's singles chart: 31-47-43-39-52-60-69-86-82-out of Top 100.
The single spent six weeks in the Top 60 and peaked at #31. Not bad for a third single. I think "Elevation" was a bigger hit here in Germany than "One" back in 1992.

ATYCLB: Down to #76 from #71.

It looks like ATYCLB might drop out of the Top 100 again in the next few weeks. I hope a fourth single (Walk On) will be released in October/November.
