I was at a Gap in NYC and they told me the bigger flagship stores have the denim jackets and sweatshirts

I'm almost positive I saw the Red Hoodies & the White Hoodies and the denim jackets at the Gap on 42nd St/Broadway Manhattan- just south of Times Square. :D

:hmm: I'd also guess they might be at the 34th ST one as well {SE corner diagonally across from Macy's}.

I was in those areas last night & today.

Good for you! That Edun One shirt is so comfy, soft.. Did you get the black or white one?

The black one. I didn't think this Nordstrom had the Edun stuff because it's a smaller store, but I was with my boyfriend looking for a dress shirt for him, and I saw a "One" shirt in the men's department, so I knew there must be women's as well.

I bought the black one. If they'd only had white ones, I might not have gotten one, since the Edun shirt I already have is white, and I wanted something different.

To the above post, the Gap employee I talked to today echoed that: she said the big store in downtown Seattle had the jeans and jackets and whatnot. I may have to check it out during my lunch hour on Monday.

Maybe the gaps stocked little b/c they were afraid it wasn't going to take off. Around where I live there was no one waiting outside the stores and I was the only one buying items in the 2 gaps I was in.

It sounds like Gap was grossly understocked all around. There's no way at all that they were appropriately stocked and that one episode of Oprah depleted every single store. I wonder if it was done purposely to create a buzz, or if they were just not so bright about what they would require...

I was at the Gap store on B'way & 42nd street at 7PM today and there was a bunch of stuff still there say, around 3 - 5 of everything I saw {more bracelets and pins>........so maybe it's not that easy to calculate stock for various areas with such a specialized merchendise.

I figure you have three Catagories of immediate potential buyers....

A- Oprah fans
B- Bono fans
C- people who would either first time, or continue to help fight AIDS in more impoverished areas- where in they might not have heard about/not really know about Bono/or Oprah in a specific way /or them doing this promotion/action......:wink: { Plus some combination of above}

I think the Bo(red) and Hammer(ed) ones are kind of inappropriate, to be honest, compared to the others. They don't fit and are bizarre choices of words. But whatever.

:hmm:

well in one aspect perhaps yes, but let's face it- I think both of those are realistic words for a fair portion of Teeangers at some time or another ...........and if they are feeling either of those feelings currently - then these would appeal to them - while perhaps the other ones wouldn't at all.

I'm considered amomg my various circles of friends, family & previous bosses & clients to be {now, beleive me - much of the time I DON'T feel this way about myself} one of the most visually creative people around........almost ALWAYS able to come up with something visualy interesting, fun, silly, wonderous, beautiful & informative <not all of these in one piece  >.

I usually am easily amusable {by & to myself in this way }.
ANd there was a time when I was a teen that I was SOOOOOOOO Bored with a whole lot of stuff & situaions.

I bet I'd have loved the 'bo(red)' Top in a real sarcastic way!
'Snarky' wasn't an invented word back then! ;)

I think you're right on that aspect, but it disappoints me that Gap would go down that road with the project. I understand about wanting to make it appealing to a wide demographic, but leave the teenagey stuff to Ambercrombie or Forever 21 or wherever else they shop these days.

At least there's a variety of stuff, so there's things for a more sophisticated youngster to buy.

(And I've just used the word "youngster." I'm officially OLD.)

Teenagers DON't shop at the Gap? I thot a saw at least a few in there tonight !

Besides isn't Abercromby MORE EXPENSIVE than The Gap?

Re: "youngster" :shh: I won't tell!:D

I bought my younger son the xsmall green t with bored on it because he is very smart and he would never let you know it and he say hes bored all the time!!! I thought it fit him perfectly. However I wouldn't buy a teenager or my older son who is going to be 11 the hammered t shirt.:|

Yeah, teens shop at the Gap, but I meant I wish the Gap had left the tacky (for lack of a better word) "red" words for the tackier teen shops, whatever teen shops have shirts that say shit like "porn star" or "OMG I'm so bored" or "spoiled princess" or whatever.

Gap's stuff is usually classier.

Does that make more sense?

I didn't look through the other stacks of tee shirt, because the only one I really like is the red one. They had a good stash of the white and green ones, though.

eh, i've never liked gap. their stuff is always a notch and a half below "cool." i'll see something that's half decent from afar, but just looks dumb when i pick it up. maybe that's just the guy stuff. i think a few of the guys' RED shirts are actually a step up from their norm.

Yeah, Gap is really hit or miss from me. But my absolute favorite pair of jeans are from the Gap, so they get points in my book.

i understand, now. :)

oh yeah, and......30$ is a mildly big chunk of weekly $$ for me, so I'll have to save for either one of the t or tank-tops.
Or the red belt.

I've already over-spent on this week's budget so I'll have to sqeak by this week.
I didn't even have an extra $10 bucks for a bracelet.

SO at the least I bought a Red pin today. :)

I was going to go to my local Gap this afternoon but 1) it's not a large store & I'd be surprised if they have anything in yet; 2) I've been sick since all week & generally feel like crap. :(

I did go online though & design a sweet pair of Converse that I may buy. $60 is a bit steep for shoes with absolutely no arch support, but part of the money does go to a great cause & I can always buy some inserts, so maybe they'll become my Merry Christmas to myself.

:reject: And talk about sounding 'old'.... I'm whining about the lack of arch supports & rationalizing the purchase of inserts!!!

I wish they had a better "word" choice for the shirts, besides Bo(red) and Hamme(red). What happened to Admi(red)? Even 'Ti(red')? There's a million better words  Got Maddy a red Desi(red) shirt today on our outting, to two Gaps.

I posted this in another thread, but thought I'd include it here too:

Don't know if this is posted anywhere, just stumbled across it. 6+ minute video listed in the "Latest" section. Bono/Shriver on CNN

http://money.cnn.com/index.html?cnn=yes

thanks Lila! At least that guy was a better interviewer than that moron Larry King... ugh.. bet we won't see Bono on that show again..

I thought the words on the shirts were a parallel to the contradicting words splashed on the screen during 'The Fly'. I thought the hammered one was a little out of place as well, however. Didn't seem like they had to go there, but I guess they're appealing to a larger base by putting in some not so inspiring phrases.

I was thinking the exact same thing!

I want to buy them before I go to Hawaii, but I'll be standing a lot since I have GA.

I'm still debating.... :hmm:

:yuck: I know - it was horrible! I know B can get long-winded & King has to watch his time, but his interruptions were just rude! I ended up just flipping back to the interview whenever the USA Network Law & Order:SVU reruns were at commercial. :|

I got me RED stuff !! so excited..

I got a hoodie and 3 shirts plus 2 armani sunglasses..

I was tempted to buy the jean jacket but I thought it was a little too over priced..
