Today is finally the day.

I totally forgot what the example used in this thread was, too, but, coincidentally, I went straight to Virgo. Can't speak highly enough about this record.

As you already know I'm basically of the old Chicago house is the only house school - even tho of course we know it's not..

But ChIcago house remains #1 for me. I have an extensive collection of vinyl that I've been collecting for 25 years or so. I hope you listen to a lot more of it and enjoy!

I'm just going right down the RYM chart, so I'm sure I'll run into some snags here or there, but this is just one of those things I've been meaning to do for years and never got around to.

Listening to this, now:

https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/fingers_inc_/another_side/

It's actually a little bit more R&B so far, but I'm reading that the second half is where it's at, so we'll see.

Meant to add..I posted at least those last four tracks in that link you posted, much earlier in this thread..they are classics. We had a club here back in the 80s called The Twilight Zone, and every year there is a reunion, and they usually try to book a nostalgia act. Couple years ago it was Robert Owens, who's voice you'll here on tunes like Bring Down The Walls etc. He's still got it.

Awesome, thanks, I'll go back and check those out.

Went to lunch at the halfway point of Another Side, since it's basically a double album. Back at it now. It's even more R&B than I was expecting, but it's so good, I don't care.

Chicago house is basically the natural progression spawning out of the black (and gay) disco scene, so it's for sure rnb-heavy. It's soul music for the feet. I was hooked when i first heard it there's so much joy liberation soul love lament you name it all wrapped up into one.

Yeah that second half is essential. Once your done the last song check out it's remix with MLK's I Have A Dream speech overlaid...hearing that brings the chills every time..takes me back..way back

That was fantastic! Thanks :D

I had Can You Feel It in a version of my DI list. What a time it would have been to be alive.

You have no idea. I imagine I must be pretty fucking annoying gushing on and on about it but I can truly say I feel lucky to have been a teenager/young adult then. Just a crazy heady whirlwind of a time.

Yeah what the fuck has happened to me lmao

I need to go out to a classic jam this holiday..get even a piece of that feeling of being in the zone at 5am totally immersed in the music. The world doesn't even exist outside that poorly lit room it's just you and the groove

Want to throw some light on Joe Goddard. Best known as the deeper of the two singers of Hot Chip, he's also put out the best work of all the Hot Chip side projects.

I haven't heard all of it, but some of the stuff I love:

From the Gabriel EP

Downtempo, great sad bastard vocals and lyrics, also from the Gabriel EP

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXpQ1H-txY0

From the Taking Over EP, more good towntempo

And he put out another great EP this year, Endless Love

Alright, after a bit of end of the year nonsense getting in my way, I'm back for more fun over here. Listening to some Tyree, right now. The DJ E-Z Rock is strong with this one.

Loud Places is a great single. Took me a while to figure out it was Romy from The xx singing.
