This is the urban legend: Way back in the day (70s-80s I think), a group of kids at a California high school would gather at a statue every day at 4:20 pm to smoke joints. Pretty soon, all that needed to be said was "4:20" and it was known that that was code for "smoke weed". Somehow, it got out to the world at large, and since 4:20 is pretty damn close to 4/20, April 20th stuck and became the International Get Blizzeed Day.
