White Smoke, White Robes(A Supposed Moment In History)

today the crowds gather by the millions
to witness a supposed moment in history
to stare at an empty balcony and wait
for the man to come and claim his victory

and I don't understand this at all
it's as if I were staring at a calculus problem
for the teachers who preach it, it's so easy
but for me, it might as well be in japanese

because I don't get it, and I don't want to
why do white robes make one so much more fit
to speak to the lord that supposedly loves us all?
yes and why do I smell the scent of a hypocrite?

and as the millions listen to the bells ring
I listen to the ringing in my head, wondering

well if this white smoke won't decieve you
and if this faith it won't recieve you
it's just a chimney to me, that's all I see
so what's the big deal?

Great subject to work on, I'm sure you were "moved" to write this, there's alot of books, essays et al to read if you need know all on the subject so we can form full objective views, but thats my way to ponder things and not necessarily yours
