Ok I'll tell the whole story.
We spent 6 months apart and then OUT of the blue my friend from work, Candace decides to ask me if I want to do a spontaneous road trip down to the states with her to see HER boyfriend. After much encouraging, I said okay. We went down there and ... everything just reminded me of him. So after a beer or *ahem* two, and some drink from a coconut I still have NO clue what it was exactly ... I got the nerve up to message him and tell him I was in his country and just to say hi again after half a year of silence.
He was like this ...
but seemed happy to hear from me so we talked for about an hour on the messanger and then for a while on the phone and I'd forgotten how great it was just to TALK to him, so I said "what the hell!?" and invited him to come to my friend's boyfriend's place and visit me for a little while, we could catch up on things.
He pretty much just dropped everything and RACED over there in the rain *blush* and when he pulled up I was standing on the porch. He got out and it was just like love at first sight all over again.
We spent that weekend together, it was the best weekend I've ever had and after a lot of serious discussion about what happened last time (and ... other ... things) we decided we'd be crazy not to try again because we're still very much in love. I'm stunned ... I mean I NEVER thought this would seriously happen. I wasn't looking for a relationship. In fact I think my exact words were "I'd rather roll naked down a hallway full of broken glass and jump into a pool of heated lemon juice at the end than be in a relationship right now".
Well you get the idea. I had been saying no to a lot of really great people and didn't really know why, only that I didn't want to date or be committed to anyone.
The bottom line is that I'm really really happy and he'd tell you the same if he were typing. I just feel ... clearer now, better, focused ... happy. For once.
Funny how love can sneak up on you when you DON'T expect it. Like a ninja.

The free health care thing is kinda cool, but don't you have to wait forever for regular appointments and an eternity to see specialists if you need to?

Not for regular appointments...you can get in the day of to see your GP.
But specialists....forever. Put it this way--my dad needs to see a neuologist. He called in Sept. and got an appointment for April.
