Just before that screaming noise you hear something, "running" note, like this

edge hits three notes for that part. he hits them twice, and then the third time slams the whammy pedal all the way forward to shift the third note all the way up to that high pitch. then he slowly brings the whammy pedal back down, as you can hear.
