Danger Mouse being secretive about U2 production...

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
It's early in the morning, but we should think about this. If, for some reason, the U2/Danger Mouse collaboration becomes long delayed or, God forbid, never sees the light of day, we should examine, throughout human history, "worse things that have happened" than the delay of the Danger Mouse album. Off of the top of my head, I can think of two things straight away that have happened that have been worse:

1. Diana, Princess of Wales, dying in a car accident at a much too young age.

2. Michael Jordan finishing his playing career as a slow, old man in a Washington Wizards uniform.

don't forget the 2 reworking mercy. pretty sure that was in fact the most heinous crime in human history

One springs instantly to mind -

3. The last 15 years of Robert De Niro's career.

"No I will NOT talk about the album you bunch of MOFOs! If I did I would have to kill you!"

DM bears a striking resemblance to Screech from Saved By The Bell in that pic.

I don't think they're being hush-hush for any special reason. I just think there's nothing new to announce. We already have the usual vagueness that occurs each time U2 get to work on something. Sometime early next year, maybe spring, maybe early summer. That's the best we're gonna hear until it's actually happening. I don't think U2 are doing things in secrecy, maybe DM isn't giving us info because there actually ISN'T anything to report. Believe me, when the album is close to being wrapped up, Bono will be the first one to tell the world...and even then we'll remain skeptical.

i shit on the original mercy. i enjoy the new mercy.

yeah, i was being sarcastic. i loved old mercy, but the new one is even better. but someone on here - i forget who - was very adamant that the reworking of mercy was one of the worst things U2 - or anyone - had ever done.

It was Lazarus.

And although my thoughts on the new Mercy aren't as intense as his, I agree that it was a huge mistake and that the new version loses so much of what made the original a great U2 song.

Word. But we'll never all agree, so let's not turn this into another old versus new Mercy thread.

Funny, remember how many threads used to devolve into Mercy arguments in it's dead years before it's resurrection this year?

The forum world would be better if Mercy didn't exist. No arguments, no tantrums and no keyboard bashings.

Then every thread would turn into U2 vs Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Radiohead...

This is indeed one of the worst things to have ever happened! The only good thing about it is that it gave me a chance to finally see him play in person....and he scored 43 points that game. Fan-friggin-tastic! The second-worst thing would have to be that he now sports a freaking Hitler mustache like it's a normal thing. Btw, coming out in February, there will be a 7-disc Michael Jordan DVD set that has all of his official highlight films plus 5 of his best games in their entirety (like the flu game). I can't wait.

Can you tell that my room as a kid was wall-to-wall Michael Jordan posters, plus the cardboard cutout they used in Home Alone??

Nah, we still argue over many other topics.

The two years of "Pop sucks!" vs. "Pop rules!" thread derailing blew.

I don't know, I think there's a big difference from what DM is doing and what Will.I.Am is doing. Is there a reason or is that just him? Who knows?

Clearly the reason he is being secretive is because will.i.am beat him up and took his tapes.

Heat, Casino, Jackie Brown.

A solid comedy turn in the first Meet The Parents.

Alright the last 14 years then.

And 1 solid comedy turn does not make up for the numerous Shark Tales, Stardusts, Righteous Kills, or Rocky & Bullwinkles!!!!

Well, all this Will.I.Am stuff was brought to light after my post about DM.

Is there a difference? Perhaps. Maybe the whole DM project was aborted, and he doesn't feel like talking about something that didn't work out. (or maybe he's upset that Will.I.Am will be remixing his stuff). Who knows.

And maybe Will.I.Am is just, uh, high or something. But if he's the producer, then either he was brought in to "clean up" or "clubify" (is that a word?) music that's already recorded, or he was brought in fairly recently to start recording the "new" album. If the latter is the case, then I think an early spring or summer release is not very likely. More like next November.

What a plot twist this has been.

Or his project and DM's project have nothing to do with each other and his is the club album like we've all figured from the get go and will be released after the DM album...

That would be nice.

Would be a shame if DM became the Chris Thomas to Will.I.Am's Steve Lilywhite.

Or... now go with me here, people ... maybe, just maybe, U2 are working with more than one producer at a time.
