Real World - U2 just released a catchy song. Nice!
Interference - U2 just released a catchy song. Fuck!
Oh Crikey. 99.9% of the "real world" hasn't even heard this song.
Other people talking on the internet is no more or less the "real world" than this place is.
The worst aspect is the production, IMO. Melodically it's not a bad concept, as evidenced by the leaked Kygo version. The timbre of the instruments is all over the place throughout (the drums in particular sound like they shift back and forth from acoustic to an imitation electronic kit). It really does sound like the different sections were recorded/re-recorded with all kinds of setups then stitched together. Suspected as much once it was known they were remixing it again days before it was released.
Honestly, I wouldn't put it past them to opt for yet another mix before December.
I think Mikal is referring to an aggregation of the position of TBT on iTunes Charts, universally positive reviews, and comments on non-u2 fan-homogenised sources about it.
This song is driving me nuts...first i hated..now i'm dancing over my home with my headphones!
I'm still intrigued listening to it and picking out how many variations they recorded/mixed but it could've been a huge pop hit if they had focused on one approach and the guitar hook. And what's with all the strings? They're going to 4-piece this live and shine the light on the gem buried in the mix or it's going to be backtracked to high hell and lifeless.
Lord knows how they would've eviscerated All My Life...
It's damn catchy, it's just destroyed by all the crap going on around it.I was just air drumming the chorus without realizing it....this song is catchy.

Did you just post a comment under the Youtube vid, Miguel?

Getting multiple plays on Spectrum and Alt Nation on SiriusXM.
I did enjoy it more in the car then here on my 'puter.

I didn't love beautiful day when I first heard it. This reminds me a lot of that time. It could take off, I like it the more I listen. Yes hearing the kygo version might have ruined my initial reaction.
Album is looking gooddddd
