All That, the magnet for seven GRAMMY awards, including back-to-back wins for Record Of The Year, is a hard act to follow. How is the next U2 album shaping up?

I just came from the studio today, and it's ridiculous what's going on. Edge is just on fire; he's making the most extraordinary things come out of his guitar. It's astonishing. We came up with a tune today called "Lead Me In The Way I Should Go," which could be a big song. Another one, provisionally titled "Full Metal Jacket," is pure chrome. I'm very excited about what we're doing, and I don't think we're facing that difficult second album syndrome.

I think we're going to have Achtung Baby II + that will blow us away!!!

Sounds like the exact same type of stuff he has said while they are recording all of their past albums. So who knows what to really expect. Not to mention the feel, vibe whatever of U2's albums can change drastically while recording in just months. When they are nearing completion and "EDGE" is saying this kind of stuff, I will get excited. He tends to be a bit more down to earth and analytical about this stuff.

I can't stand hearing about all these news about the next album. They make me so anxious, and hearing Bono praise it as if they've finally made that "record of the year" album he says they've always wanted to make, would make me expect too much from it when it comes out.
I'm afraid its not going to sound good. But then again, its U2, they can do no wrong. And I believe Blue Room is right: wait for Edge to say something, 'cause Bono does over-exaggerate.

Very, very true. Bono talked up ATYCLB so much, I thought it was going to be the greatest album of all time. It's probably close to being my favorite U2 album, but it didnt exactly turn out to be everything he'd said.

I really doubt if he'd ever come out into the press and say,"All the stuff we've been working on is crap". So it's not like we should believe everything we hear!

It's very good they're excited about it though.
