thanks U2Girl

I can't read German.. is he confirming the title to be Songs of Ascent?

good find. I'm starting to get excited - I believe we are getting an album with the news trickling in the last couple of days.

"news", but still.

Based on googles translation of the post, Songs of Ascent, although rumored for moths will probably not be the the title. Nor do I think it should be since FINALLY we confirm Danger Mouse is responsible for the upcoming masterpiece.

I think its safe to say it will have a catchy name something like Project 01 but not exactly. Well see...

I always doubted the late May timeline of the last couple days.

Just would not make any sense.

Early May, with a single in mid-March.

The official announcement of the title, tracklisting, etc, we should see by February 20th.

thanks my German-speaking friends..

so I wonder if this means it'll come sooner than May 27.. perhaps an earlier digital release.

Here's the article translated to English:

At Midem assured U2 manager Paul McGuinness talks to Music Week that the new album the group is largely completed. It should come ahead of the other North American tour dates in May to market.

The band was in the studio in southern France about to miss the songs the finishing touch, "said McGuinness. Brian Burton aka Danger Mouse is seized of the production. That should take the new work entitled "Songs of Ascent", as rumored in the past several months is unlikely.

Hey i've got a question for the german-speakers - does the article say that u2 are putting the finishing touches on the album right now, or that they have put the finishing touches on?

This is all really good news, except frankly im dissappointed in U2. Im hoping they don't continue to take the pro-USA stance they have embraced over the last few years, or since PoP (specifically post 911).

What the world really needs is a more fair & balanced U2, they are a WORLD band and not just a USA band. They need to take a hard line against the governments of Egypt, Israel and stop flirting with America. Start embracing Iran and North Korea, China and Russia, Pakistan and India.

Stop writing and recording everything in English, why not write an album in arabic or chinese for a change? All of their religion and wealth is off putting to their poor, atheist fans. Also Bono really needs to start wearing cheap sunglasses instead of designer ones.

And for the love of Allah, please no more radio hits. If you think you have something that sounds remotely good or might just be the next big radio single or stadium anthem, kill it immediately! Strip it back down to the basics, remove the classic guitar riffs, remove the drums, bass, chorus, bridge, etc....and throw it in the recycle can. Only then will you have something truly special.

If you need any more of my advice, its not exactly free, for im a very important person with big ideas and my brilliance comes at a high price. But for the sake of art and integrity, i suggest you tune into Battlestar Gallactica on your pilgrimage. Once you have reached the temple on the hilltop, only then can i suggest that you will have achieved full enlightenment, as have i.

Until then, keep making sinners out of babies and questioning your own shoe size.

in passing, McCormick says they have a new one out this year.. might be conjecture, but if anyone knows- it's him
If this guy knows what he's talking about, he's also made the prospect of a Radiohead album in 2011 that much more likely.
Also, holy shit at the McGuinness interview...looks like we should be getting an announcement by early March at the latest. It could very well come earlier, considering that the mainstream media has picked up on the rumors.

Now, then...WHO'S READY FOR LEAK THREADS? :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

oh crap... now that's a phenomena every few years that I dread. F5, F5, F5, F5... leak, dammmmmit! Then the myriad of "me too" with email threads. :D
Not to mention listening to thirty-second samples over and over and over again, judging entire songs by their titles, downloading low-quality radio rips of the lead single...

WTAHNN is one of the dullest boards on the forum 90% of the time, but during a pre-album hype cycle, it's glorious.:drool::drool:

And yeah, i foresee a u2 announcement by the end of this month, or the start of march :hyper:

Hells Yeaass!!!! It's just a matter of time and the best part is today is 2/1 so we could have a single next month and an announcement of the new single this month. You would have to think they will have a single out before the South American shows to get those crowds a rocking!

Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design. It was I who allowed the public to know the location of the Spiderman musical. It was quite distracting for your pitiful little band. Now, an entire legion of our best songs awaits you. Oh, I'm afraid the Danger Mouse album will be quite operational when the North American tour arrives.
