COBL is also the hottest song on Mainstream Rock, and nearly 9 months after release, Vertigo is still in the Top 30 on this format but is considered "recurrent" after six months on the chart. Billboard counts Active Rock (harder) and Mainstream Rock formats together as their "Mainstream Rock" chart, so I don't expect to see COBL on Billboard until it reaches the Top 5 on Mainstream Rock Radio...even then, it's not suited for Active Rock, so it will likely not chart very high on Billboard due to the format splits. Even if it reached #1 on Mainstream Rock Radio, that may only be good enough for #20 on Billboard, unless the song is picked up by Active Rock.
Billboard's Modern Rock correlates with Alternative Rock Radio, and COBL is just now showing signs of SOME airplay on this format, as here it is on the "Taking Off" and "Jump" charts from mediabase.com

On Net Music Countdown, Sometimes bounces up two spots to #10 on Hot AC. No U2 on the ARC Top 40 or MGB Top 40. That's not surprising, as these two charts include sales, airplay, and video play. MTV and VH1, in the U.S. anyway, updated their playlists for this week on Monday, and still no COBL. Much Music has it in "light rotation", actually sighting the fact that the video is so similar to Speed of Sound that it was not put into heavy rotation.
Radio and Records update later, along with BB for North America and Europe.
Cheers!
